Blues Linked With Former Loanee Tunnicliffe as Clubs Eye Lawrence
Thursday, 22nd Dec 2016 19:36

Town are reported to be one of a number of clubs keen on former loanee Ryan Tunnicliffe, who is currently out of favour with the Blues' Boxing Day opponents Fulham.

According to the Daily Mail, the 23-year-old is keen to move on in January due to his lack of games at Craven Cottage and Town, Preston, QPR and Rangers are all interested.

Tunnicliffe, who hasn’t featured for the Cottagers since October, made 24 starts and five sub appearances for the Blues while on loan from Manchester United in the first half of the 2013/14 season before being sold to Fulham in the January transfer window.

The midfielder, who had spells on loan at Barnsley and Peterborough prior to joining Town and with Wigan and Blackburn more recently, is out of contract in the summer and reportedly will be available on a free transfer in January.

Meanwhile, the same paper also claims Derby, Norwich, Reading, Cardiff and Wigan have all made enquiries to Leicester regarding Blues loanee Tom Lawrence.

The 22-year-old Wales international, who has 18 months left on his contract with the Foxes, has impressed while with the Blues during the first half of the season.

Lawrence is due to stay with Town for the whole campaign, however, as was the case with Tunnicliffe's spell with the Blues, deals often include a provision which allows parent clubs to cut short loans during the January window.

We haven't got a farts chance in a hurricane of getting Lawrence and as for Tunnicliffe, no thanks, he was crap the last time he was here. Not surprised he can't get in Fulham team.

I would not want Tunnicliffe back here. As others have said, he wasn't that good when he was here the first time. Solid, but unspectacular and didn't score. The fact he is a CM by trade but was played out wide, because he worked hard told you all you need to know.

Think we should try and get Lawrence and maybe that's where some of the money that is supposedly available should go to. Don't like our chances, with the other teams mentioned.

I still want to see us go in for other players like Potts from Blackpool or look at the lower leagues. Why go back to players we have already had, who didn't exactly set the world alight.

We've as much chance of getting Lawrence as MM has of getting the sack.

Another midfielder who won't dislodge Skuse from his everlasting central berth, and will have to compete with the likes of Douglas, Bishop and Bru, and who will stall the development of Dozzell.

The alternative is he plays on the left hand side like last time which I'm sure Mick enjoyed, unlike everyone else, and we go back in time to 2013/14.

Oh, dear. He was just another Luke Hyam clone when he was with us.

Here we go cheapskate is at it again i would not be surprised if no money was spent again just freebies or loans are all we can expect by Scrooge with a migraine McCarthy. Half season tickets must be selling like hot cakes........if things don't change soon attendances will be around 10,000 next season,,there is nothing to be optimistic about at town these days.
