Skipper Set to Stay With Town
Tuesday, 31st Jan 2017 18:20

TWTD understands that Town skipper Luke Chambers is set to stay with the Blues, despite interest from his former club Nottingham Forest.

Talks between the clubs have been ongoing for much of the day but the 31-year-old will be remaining at Portman Road.

Great news. But the fact the club were seriously in discussions all day to sell suggests yet again Evans was looking to cash in. Where is the million pound plus striker?

Excellent

Now let's get a striker and beat Derby and then suddenly it'll all seem much nicer than 20 minutes ago

Was actually hoping he might be off to be fair.. Been poor for a long time now, can't fault his effort of desire but not the answer at RB and is largely unproven as a CB for us.

OMG, GUTTED Am I the only one disappointed about this. Chambers is PONY, repeat PONY especially as RB. and not much better at centre half. Anyone would think we have just landed a 5m striker from a prem team with the euphoria on here not kept captain calamity in the back four. Off to book an appointment with a football minded shrink now just to check I'm still of a sound mind.

Back four for me TAYLOR, SMITH and WEBSTER when all are fit.

Perhaps Mick has a plan to play him at centre forward so that's why we've not bought one to replace Murph. With respect to Keifer does the club really think we have enough up front?

Or am I daft in thinking this club has any plan at all. Five point plan sounds like peace in our time to me. A beautiful fantasy that ultimately is not going to happen..

Are we supposed to be thankful that the club captain has stayed ? Where are the new big money signings promised for last two seasons ?

The existing centre-backs are Chambers, Webster, Berra, Smith and Digby. In addition we have Taylor and the young players. Surely, we only need four first team squad centre-backs? Does that mean that Chambers will persist at full-back, or are we going to lose some of the others? My big criticism was that he was being played out of position at right-back, not that he was a bad player. That said, I would be quite happy to let Chambers, Taylor and Berra go at the end of the season. That would leave us Webster, Smith and Digby and looking to sign another, younger, left-sided, centre-back. Right-backs would be Emmanuel and Spence (assuming that he proves to be good enough).

LC has been decent since he has moved back to centre back so good idea to keep , especially as Berra should and probably will move north of the border at the end of the season .
I am not advocating spending loads of money we obviously don't have but I really don't understand how Wolves and Sheffield Wednesdayare spending 10m on players . Where is their money coming from. They are no bigger than us surely ( certainly not smaller) but I believe on similiar business's size but have far more disposable income ?????????
Anyone has any ideas?

If Chambers is brilliant then this season must have been a nightmare that I hope to wake from!
Slow, ponderous, hoofball....great attitude but he is a poor player that would not get into any top championship side
