Town Cut Matchday Ticket Prices
Tuesday, 13th Jun 2017 07:00

Town have announced a cut in matchday prices ahead of the 2017/18 campaign with the cheapest adult seat down to £25 from last season’s £27.50.

As previously reported, the club has also scrapped the surcharge for those paying on the gate on the day, which was £2.50 for adults and £1 for juniors last season.

The cost of senior citizens’ tickets is down to £18, while there is an under-23s matchday price for the first time, as is the case with season tickets for next season.

An under-23 ticket will cost £15 and an under-19 seat will be £8. Last season an under-20s ticket was priced at £18 and an under-16s seat £11.50.

A ticket for an under-12 supporter in the family area will cost £3, compared with £8.50 in 2016/17.

TWTD revealed in April that Town’s season ticket sales had dipped below 10,000 for the first time since the late 1990s - which equates to a reduction in income of around £1 million - down from last year’s final total of around 12,200 and a 15 per cent drop on the same point last summer.

Speaking to Life’s a Pitch in April, MD Ian Milne said the club were planning to introduce more flexible ticketing arrangements along the lines of the the Pick6 and Pick12 bundles launched last season and we understand Town will be releasing further details in due course.

It's time Marcus Evans realised that the life blood of a football club is its season ticket holders.why wasn't the 5% increase in season tickets revoked we've already got it got your money so up yours.Evans could have learnt a lot about running a football club by studying how John Cobbold understood supporters and their love for their club.To hide away from supporters is no way to get them onside. Why did you buy the club Marcus when you obviously have no real passion for the club.

Sorry ...this does not change anything,
I will still not be renewing my season ticket until we get rid of MM
Money is not my issue, it is the MM brand of football
Last season I had access to 4 season tickets... I struggled every time to even GIVE them away FOC!....... to once regular supporters.
Things have got that bad and I can't see any signs of likely improvement

A step in the right direction finally. However, £25 is still quite steep so we'll have to produce some good football to make people come back regularly at those prices. Not sure how that's going to help persuade season ticket sales though.

whoopee do a whole £2.50 off a ticket that's really going to make me want to go and watch the shower of sh&t football they serve up, its amazing this comes after the drop in sales of season tickets it won,t make much difference to the home gates I,m predicting , only one or two things will see the gates go up and that will be the appointment of a new manager or some pretty decent singings not holding my breath on both accounts

Another U turn ! Has the PM been stabbed in the back, dumped by her odious cabinet members, and replaced Milne with nobody knowing ?

What about OAPs, because of rise in qualifying age those affected, are now expected to pay more this year than last !!!!!

Me thinks they have got this arse about face. Should have set the match day price first and then agreed on the season ticket price to safeguard the season ticket differential. Complete joke of a business masquerading as a football club.

Makes no difference to me being 60+ and now having to wait another 4years to get the concession price again. Hopefully by that time MM ME and IM will be a distant memory

Spot on Scuzzer. They have presented two pieces of news in the wrong order, turning two (tiny and inadequate) positives into two big fat negatives. Suicidal business technique.

Tickets prices reduced and it's WINGE WINGE WINGE. Let's face it, Town fans are never happy unless they're moaning.

£2.50...wow! the club are really going all out to get the supporters back - do one!

And they have GOOD reason to moan!!

It is too late in the day and should have been thought out months ago. But if they're really serious about wanting to get the fans back then SACK MM now. The benefit would be 2,000 more fans at least and that would pay for his exit fee.

£2.50 off the entrance of £27.50, BIG DEAL MARCUS, to make it £25 to watch that shower of s**t each week, if Marcus wants large crowds then £15 might make it more palatable, Here's a better bet, put the £25 on a bet that Ipswich get relegated next season, because from what I've seen in teams coming down from the premiership, and teams coming up from Div 1, and our lack of investment we will really struggle big time, so I fully expect to see gates of around 12'000 ish and dropping when we're propping up the Championship

Pi55 off your core customer base with an unjustified rise in season ticket prices and then do it again by reducing prices only for casual customers. Add insult to injury by reducing discounts for your most long term customers and make them pay hundreds more on top!

I don't care what sort of business you are running this is not a sensible way to go about it!

At last a bit of common sense from the club.
Now implement the 5% rebate for ST holders and let's start the season of with a bit of good will for a change and get everyone on board.

Thou £2.50 is not much they seem to have forgotten about any discount to season tickets holders that can't be right: one thing I'd change ahead of the new season is completely change the music played at the ground: hearing pop music is not going to build a atmosphere prior to KO: why not play Dance & Rock music: it gets the blood pumping more likely to get fans on there feet create a Concert type environment:

And us season ticket holders get nothing well done itfc

Agree re the over 60 ticket pricing being wrong but less so re season tickets. They get discounted anyway & some people don't want to go every week but we're being overly penalised for that.

Still think this is positive news. Doesn't change some of the problems but is at least a step in the right direction.

They have made a huge mistake alienating a large portion of season ticket holders and this isn't going to make f-all difference. You don't create a consistent atmosphere with people who attend a few games a season. Take your head out of your arse Evans and look at what Huddersfield did.

Taricco_Fan added 11:21 - Jun 13
A welcome move but the cuts don't go far enough.

£20 for the lower North Stand and £25 for the upper would be a better deal in the face of falling attendances and poor football.

Well done Town, well done Evans. A step in the right direction!!

Thank god and at long last the heinous and ridiculous surcharge for buying tickets on the day has gone----I feel liberated as have told the club many times this is just not on.

Well its a start with a reduction----personally I would use the old KISS theory---£25 on the side and £20 behind the goal, first come first served.
