Town Still Waiting to Complete Garner Deal
Thursday, 15th Jun 2017 17:12

Town’s signing of Rangers striker Joe Garner now looks unlikely to be confirmed before Friday.

The Blues are continuing to wait for paperwork relating to the deal to be finalised at the Rangers end.

The 29-year-old’s move is not understood to be in any jeopardy, the former Preston frontman having undergone a medical earlier this week, a £1 million fee and personal terms - believed to be a three-year contract - having previously been agreed, although it is possible it could drag into next week.

Garner is getting married in his native Lancashire tomorrow but that won’t have an impact on the completion of his switch with the striker not due to be back at Portman Road until the start of pre-season training on June 26th.

Does seem to be a right mess up this transfer. Although I am not sure about him, it really needs to happen as if it falls through then it will have a negative effect on the fans yet again

When it was expected to be Monday i instantly said "That'll be Friday then". Looks like even that could be a stretch!

Is thus deal sponsored by Gillette? Because surely this is as close as it's going to get.

It's fairly typical of a lot of transfers at this time of year, not everyone around at clubs so things take longer than they would later on down the line in July or August. Also no rush with no games.

Also, I never said it would be completed on Monday! Just that he was due down here then.

The club have probably pushed it back till next week as I expect they are too busy processing season ticket sales to have time to deal with anything else until then.

Is this move still rated as "close" or has it moved closer as "imminent" or back to "delayed"?

The deal will happen,

ITFC are just waiting for the paperwork from rangers to confirm the deal....

Joe Garners Medical went well & the fee has been agreed.

Sit tight & wait till it happens

I am happy with Garner at Town Should get 10-15 goals next season & help the other strikers out

oh ffs only at ITFC......we take so long to close deals. Little wonder we rarely get our primary targets.

Do dome of u guys actually bother to read the story or just react to the headline. The delay has nothing to do with Ipswich. It's purely down to paperwork that needs completing by Rangers. But guess it gives u guys something to beat the club over the head with again.

Is this how long money deals take? Just so used to frees and loans I've forgotten if this is normal...!

Maybe Garner or his agent are still clinging on to the hope that someone else will make an offer before he puts pen to paper.
