Town to Learn Carabao Cup Opponents Today
Friday, 16th Jun 2017 10:08

Town will discover their first round opponents in the Carabao Cup - the competition known as the EFL Cup last season - at 1pm today.

The draw takes place in Bangkok where the competition’s new sponsor, Carabao Energy Drink, are based.

It will be available via various platforms, including the EFL’s new iFollow service, on the Carabao Cup Facebook page and SkySports.com.

The draw will be carried out by former France and Arsenal midfielder Emmanuel Petit, Carabao’s CEO Sathien Setthasit, the British Ambassador to Thailand, Brian Davidson, and the EFL’s chief executive Shaun Harvey.

It is regionalised and seeded based on clubs’ finishing positions in the EFL last season. Town are among the southern seeds. The ties take place in the week commencing 7th August.

Last season the Blues were beaten 1-0 at home in the first round by League Two Stevenage, who they have faced in the opening round in three of the last four seasons.

Town will learn their 2017/18 Championship fixtures on Wednesday 21st June.

12th Man- Why pick on Stevenage? With our record I would fear any of the potential opponents.

The Blades at home could be really embarrassing if we have a typical MM set up for a cup tie. I wouldn't fancy us against Pompey. I've got a feeling we'll get Colchester.

ANYWAY

Just for once McCarthy, while you're here, make a bl***y effort and win us a cup tie !
