Town Reward Early Bird Season Ticket Holders
Friday, 23rd Jun 2017 14:11

Town are to reward season ticket holders who renewed their seats before the initial April 17th early bird deadline with £10 which can be spent on tickets or other goods from Planet Blue or ITFC Direct.

As previously reported, season tickets can still be purchased at the pre-deadline prices which the club has confirmed will remain the case until midnight on August 4th, the day before the 2017/18 season kicks off.

As a result, Town have made the decision to reward those who renewed prior to the deadline with the £10 added to their season ticket cards.

“I want to thank all the supporters who have committed - and will commit - to a season ticket for next season, but having extended the early bird prices, we feel it is right to reward those fans who purchased a season ticket before the deadline,” MD Ian Milne told the club site.

Town say there is no minimum spend, if £5 is paid out in one transaction, the remaining £5 will remain on the card for a future purchase.

In March, fans reacted angrily to the announcement of an increase of 1.5 per cent on the adult season ticket price as well as other unpopular moves and numbers dropped more than 2,000 to below 10,000 for the first time since the late 1990s, a reduction in income of around £1 million.

Earlier this month, the Blues announced a reduction in matchday ticket prices ahead of the new season.

Meanwhile, Rotherham striker Danny Ward's long-expected £1.6 million move to Cardiff City has been confirmed.

The Blues made a bid for the 26-year-old in January and according to the Sheffield Star made a "substantial offer" during this window, however, even if that was the case it's unlikely Town continued to pursue their interest once Joe Garner's signing from Rangers, which was confirmed a week ago, had been lined up.

Does this include kids tickets - or as there is no early bird price as such does it not?

Like our ON town snatch defeat from the jaws of victory with this one.

Even I think it's laughable

Fair play - this more than cancels out the rise in my ST price (£417 to £423). Pretty much shows that the club have realised this was a big mistake - small steps and all that.

Better than nothing, I am not going to complain about £10 to spend in the club shop. Would prefer to read we rather than Cardiff are the ones signing Ward however. The only way season tickets will be value for money is if we invest in the playing side and play some attractive, winning football. Another relegation slog playing long ball football won't go down well with fans.

I totally agree with others who have stated that if the brand of football was more expansive, offensive & entertaining then I don't think there would be many who would be complaining about the hike in prices, this way at least you get the entertainment value, opposed to the feeling your being mugged off

£10 lol...only Town..

ST holders should say keep it and spend the £100k on getting the roofs cleaned and tidying the place up...

Token gesture and won't actually cost the club anything in real terms. Also its too little too late for most and if we have another poor season this time we are looking at record low attendances for next year.

I'm all for supporting the club - but the current management are taking the p*ss - and not very good at football management either.

Their record with the club does not lie.

Good ploy to get people,in the shop and spend more money, lets face it what in real terms can you buy for a tenner in that place! If you do stick to the tenner unreal terms it's a fiver to the club (at least on mark up) if you take the tenner off your replica shirt you need to give then club another £35. Only one winner here really!!!!

LondonBlue73 .. I too agree with you totally. I am 64, have a ST which is MY choice. Losing the concession was infuriating but ITID.

Gosh how generous is that? Now don't go mad and spend it all at once.

LWRN2013.I now know of 2 people including your goodself who have renewed despite the price hike you have had to endure, and like you I would have renewed were I in a similar position;so good on you! I do think however it was grossly unfair, and wonder how many ticket sales have been lost making the increase retrospective.

All these small concessions, though welcome, will I am sure only have a marginal effect on attendances.

Had Mr Evans taken the logical step of removing Mr McCarthy,he would have found a surge in season ticket sales, would more than compensated for the expenditure incurred in his removal

In addition the atmosphere would also improve considerably, which would have given a lift to the players.

Sadly this is not to be;so I face the season with more trepidation than I have experienced in over half a century!

Absolutely really pi**ed off that after the season we endured with appalling football and zero entertainment the club in it's wisdom decided it was a good idea to reward it's fans with a price increase. Then to offer £10 to those season ticket holders who renewed, is a pointless gesture and only winds me up more. Yes I am a season ticket holder and yes I hate the ME and MM regime.

well the early birds must be singing from the roof tops ,now as a goodwill gesture to all the other fans ,how about giving McCarthy a single rail ticket to York .

£10 is irrelevant and won't be the difference between anyone buying a season ticket or not. Even if they offered free tickets I would not be tempted to drive a 100 mile round trip to watch the type of football we churn out week after week.

Surely if we complain about prices and the club takes notice and starts to address the issues we should be pleased?
I haven't got a season ticket. The price of watching ITFC has been too high for too long & I have been vociferous in complaining about it. However let's praise the recent price reductions & hope they are a start in the right direction.
Above all let's be realistic. The club was hardly likely to drop prices by 20% in one go were they? Hopefully they start to address the most important issue - the team & the manager. That whet we need improvement & ultimately that is where the fans returning or not will be decided.

An underwhelming token gesture. It's showing a desperation in trying to boost merchandise sales that's suffering due to disillusionment. However if it is successful then similar promos may become standardised. I'm guessing they're trying something new and testing the water.

An attempt at a gesture but still think it was a big mistake not apologising (as far as I know) to the loyal older fans and changing the age threshold back.

I have to say it is a very small gesture in the bigger scheme of things as you are only going to give them the money back, however what I will say is that somebody must be listening, albeit slow reacting.
I would however suggest that none of the £10s are taken and club uses this towards paying off the manager. The majority if the 2000 missing ST holders will come flooding back and the negative vibes that are apparent at this club will diminish greatly.

How many long term supporters has the town lost by its change of pensional age? Some OAPs between 60 - 65 are expected to pay £160 more this season than last, as last year they were OAPs, but now the club has raised the pension age to 65, they are expected to go back to paying full price for 2-3 years ! ! ! £160 more than last year !! they have left discusted.
