McCarthy: Adeyemi Will Add Goals to Midfield
Saturday, 1st Jul 2017 13:46

Town boss Mick McCarthy believes new signing Tom Adeyemi will add goals to the Blues' midfield, the free agent having signed a two-year deal, which includes an option for a further season, yesterday.

Adeyemi, who was released by Cardiff at the end of last season having spent the campaign on loan at Rotherham, was also understood to be interesting his former club Norwich City and a number of other Championship sides.

“Tom is coming into his prime at 25, he has played 220 or so league games so he is very experienced and he showed last season that he carries a goal threat,” McCarthy told the club website.

“Some have him down as a holding midfielder but Rotherham gave him license to get forward last season and he benefited from that.

""“He scored seven goals from midfield at a team that got relegated. That tells you something about the ability he has got. That’s more than we got from our midfield players last season.

“He has got a lot of attributes and I know there were a lot of clubs interested in him.

"He comes across as a really good person as well, which is important. He will fit in perfectly for us and I’m delighted we’ve got him.”

Adeyemi will fly out to Ireland with the rest of the squad for next week’s training camp at the Carton House Hotel in Co Kildare.

It would seem that this is it for MMc, sh*t or bust.
He has been given money and has made some purchases.
If we are still playing football so turgid it it hurts then he has no excuse.
My hope is that he gets us going in the right direction in the right way.
This has been my hope for the past three seasons, last season it was a hope destroyed, ground into tiny tiny pieces and shot into space.
We were pretty close to playing in Division Three (old school) and were by far the dullest team in the league.
Give it a go Mick, play people who are dynamic, in position and trust them to play footy, we know that the right ones can.
