Town Pay Tribute to Linkin Park Singer Thursday, 20th Jul 2017 20:50
Town have sent their condolences to the family and friends of Linkin Park singer and Blues supporter Chester Bennington, who has died aged 41.
The Arizona-born frontman began following Town as a teenager after his father, Lee, started supporting the Blues while spending time in Suffolk in the early 1990s.
Bennington is understood to have subsequently kept in touch with Town's fortunes via the Internet and at one time was reported to be keen to play a concert at Portman Road.
Arguably the most high profile Town fan. So sad to learn of the news, everyone at #itfc passes on best wishes to Chester's family & friends https://t.co/XlRSuExp04
I thought I knew most things about Ipswich! This I didn't: I hope for Birmingham we only play Linkin Park songs before KO: especially tracks from Hypbrid Theory & Meteora: let's make Portman road Rock
Every day I listed to Planet Rock and it appears a week doesn't go by when another one of the Rock fraternity has died. Such a great shame. On the outside it looks like they have everything to live for. RIP Chester
Excuse my language, but f**k no way. Loved Linkin Park throughout college and was only listening to Hybrid Theory and Meteora yesterday (best 2 albums). Linkin Park will never be the same without him. Had no idea he was a Town fan (the more you know). Another reason why the world needs to wake up and treat mental illness seriously. Just look at some of the other great names we have lost such as Robin Williams not to mention many of us know a loved one or close friend that my have at least attempted something (I know I have) :(
Absolutely brilliant front man and what a voice!! very sad news never knew he was a town fan though , apperently they will be wearing black armbands for the brum game? I hope its a double meaning for little Bradley Lowery too.
kesblue you should be ashamed of yourself making a joke out of this! You disgust me!
I love Linkin Park and they're still one of the best bands I've seen live. A song at the beginning of the Brum game would be a tribute, perhaps change it permanently as the other songs are getting a bit tired now (apart from enter sandman) Perhaps one step closer or papercut? He'll be greatly missed and I'm gutted we'll never see him perform at PR ;'( Thoughts are with his family, friends and 6 children
As rayman put rather nicely 'mental health' is a serious issue and can affect anyone. Whether Chester was suffering from his own hand or from other factors remains to be seen, but the outcome is still the same, very sad indeed.
Humour does it for me though, even in the face of adversity, so I have to somewhat maybe shamefully admit, I had a right good laugh at kesblues post. Each to their own so to speak!!!
Saw them at Birmingham 2 weeks to the day yesterday... He put in an amazing performance and feel blessed I saw him before he took his life. Clearly struggled in life and yesterday being Chris Connell's birthday may have been too much.
Like others - never knew he was a Town fan! Terribly sad and glad I got to see his talent . RIP
So sad to learn he was a blue only after this sad news. I remembered black skies The lightning all around me I remembered each flash As time began to blur Like a startling sign That fate had finally found me.
