McKendry in Northern Irish U21s Squad
Tuesday, 29th Aug 2017 16:20

Blues youngster Conor McKendry has been named in the Northern Ireland U21s squad for their European Championships qualifiers against Albania and Slovakia.

The Northern Irish youngsters, who are currently top of their group having won their opening game 2-1 in Estonia in June, face the Albanians at Mourneview Park in Lurgan on Thursday, then take on the Slovakians away in Senica on Tuesday 5th September.

It’s the first time the 18-year-old midfielder has been called into an U21 squad having previously won caps at U16 and U17 levels.

McKendry, who is yet to make his senior debut, featured for the Town first team throughout pre-season and was an unused sub during last Tuesday’s Carabao Cup defeat at Crystal Palace. The academy product signed his first pro deal with the Blues in June.

Further evidence that this club has turned a corner and positive things are happening throughout the age groups.

Often catches the eye in U23 games. An exciting player to watch, hopefully he'll be given his first team chance soon.
