Waddock: McDonnell and Fowler Have Been Excellent Wednesday, 27th Sep 2017 12:51 Aldershot boss Gary Waddock says he will discuss whether to extend Adam McDonnell and George Fowler’s loan spells with the high-flying Shots with his Blues counterpart Mick McCarthy next week. Despite Will de Havilland, another central defender, having returned from injury, Waddock isn’t ruling out Fowler, 19, staying at the EBB Stadium beyond the initial month. “George Fowler has done very, very well for us and his loan runs out next Saturday. I’m looking forward to having a choice on Saturday,” he told Get Surrey. Fowler and midfielder McDonnell, 20, have both started all five games for the Shots since joining them at the end of last month. Waddock added: “I will speak to Mick about it next week and we will make a decision then. They have both been excellent and it’s good for their development. “Adam has played with the [Ipswich] first team and George is playing for their U23s, so competitive football for them is really, really good and they’ve been very good for us.” ![]() Speaking on Monday, McCarthy said Town have kept an eye on their progress with Aldershot, who are second in the Vanarama National League. “Both of them have done well,” he said. “[Academy head of player development] Bryan Klug’s been to watch them two or three times and we’ve had them watched every game. “They’ve been good, are doing really well, but I’ve not heard from Aldershot yet. Gary Waddock will ring me if wants them.”
