Webber Signs First Pro Deal
Thursday, 28th Sep 2017 16:13

Young defender Pat Webber has signed his first professional deal with the Blues, a contract which runs to the summer of 2019 with the club having an option for a further season.

Webber, who joined the academy from non-league Worthing in the summer of 2016 after a trial, plays at either left-back or centre-half and made his only senior appearance so far in the Carabao Cup tie at Crystal Palace.

The 18-year-old is the son of Damian Webber, who played for Town boss Mick McCarthy at Millwall.

Yesterday, fellow defender Luke Woolfenden extended his Town contract, also putting pen to paper on a deal which runs to the summer of 2019 with the club having an option for a further year.

Only one appearance so far - but tops TWTDs player rankings for the season!!! Good luck in your professional career Pat.

It's lovely to see the young lads coming through. Hopefully, they will be the future of our club. Home grown is so much preferable to bought in. I really hope that he grabs the opportunity and maximises his ability. A certain cricketer has just given us all an example of how not to do it!

Just imagine we could have a starting 11 of mostly under 25 year olds who have come through the academy and possibly no signed players
