Moore Nets 10th Goal of Loan Spell
Saturday, 14th Oct 2017 21:58

On-loan Blues striker Kieffer Moore netted his 10th goal of the season as Rotherham beat Scunthorpe 2-0 at the New York Stadium in League One.

Moore, who added the Millers' second in the 71st minute, is now the top scorer in the division on his own having pulled ahead of former Blues Brett Pitman, now with Portsmouth, and Jack Marriott, who joined Peterborough from Luton in the summer, who have nine.

The 25-year-old was subbed in injury time, while Town right-back Josh Emmanuel was an unused sub.

The duo are on loan with the South Yorkshiremen for the season but with the Blues able to cut their spells short in January.

Meanwhile, midfielder Adam McDonnell assisted Scott Rendell's 79th minute goal as Aldershot defeated Torquay United 1-0 in the fourth qualifying round of the FA Cup at the EEB Stadium.

McDonnell played the full 90 minutes, moving to left-back after fellow Blue George Fowler was substituted on 50.

Elsewhere, defender Chris Smith played the full 90 minutes for his loan club Chelmsford as they drew 0-0 with Bath City at Twerton Park, also in the FA Cup.

Surprised we let Adam McDonnell become cup tied. I'd be surprised if we see him in a Town shirt again. Shame given the high hopes.

Great news. I'm pleased for the lad. Didn't look good enough last season in championship, but this loan deal will have done him the world of good. Might only be league one but already proving folk - including me - wrong.

As we saw yesterday with Sheffield United there's not as big a leap from top of League 1 to our level! Kieffer needs to stop being a Lost Boy (ask your parents, young uns!)

Recall in January then at least we'd have someone to aim those hoof balls at. Would be a waste of his ability though. Hope we extend his contract after this season could be a handy next season!!!

I'd put him in the team instead of Sears. Hope MM brings him back in January.

Leave the lad there, can't see him getting in front of Garner, Waghorn and McGoldrick.
Six more months playing regular football will be better than the odd sub game for us. Next season he might be pushing for a first team place.

If we don't sell him that is

It's really good to read of him playing games and scoring goals; that is why he was sent out on loan.

The second half of last season was always going to be difficult as he went from non-league to a championship club in a relegation dogfight in one bound.

We have four experienced centre-forwards, so let's leave him where he is for the season.

My concern is Emmanuel not playing. Is that because he's not fit enough or not good enough? What is the point of him not playing for them when he could be playing for us (instead of Iorfa) or, indeed, not playing for us.

I say leave Moore there. I hope we're sending representatives to every game he plays in to see how he's scoring so often. Is it how Rotherham are playing him and how they are getting him the ball or is it because the opposition defenses are weak. As for Emmanuel recall him and find him another club where he will get games. He might as well be at Ipswich not playing as out on loan not playing. The boy needs to be playing and getting experience in competitive games.

A striker is only as good as the service he gets.
