Huws Ruled Out for Rest of Season
Thursday, 14th Dec 2017 17:37

Midfielder Emyr Huws has been ruled out for the rest of the season having undergone knee surgery. The Wales international was subbed at half-time during Saturday’s 2-0 defeat at Middlesbrough having suffered knee and hip knocks.

After the 24-year-old, who had only just returned to action following an achilles problem suffered in pre-season, saw a specialist it was revealed he had sustained a cartilage tear and he went under the knife today.

“Emyr has a complex tear of his lateral meniscus,” Blues physio Matt Byard told the club site. "

“It has been repaired and the average recovery period is around six months which means he will obviously miss the rest of the season.”""

Boss Mick McCarthy added: “It’s obviously very disappointing for us but even more so for Emyr. We know the quality he brings to the team and he will be missed."

The midfielder, who made three starts and two sub appearances after returning to action following his achilles injury, joined Town from Cardiff on a permanent basis in the summer for a fee understood to be approaching £1 million in the summer after a highly successful loan spell last season.

....... let's not forget either - that Warnock is no fool..... !! Food for thought - if nothing else.

Sad news for Emyr and worse news for ITFC.
Here's wishing him a speedy recovery.
Important that we get Bishop back up and running as soon as possible now.

There are some shocking opinions....this is a blokes job some are being flippant about!...what right do people have to be spiteful....the number of injuries is terrible and has devastated a squad that in the summer looked ok....I'm pretty certain that most would have been surprised at our position in knowledge of the injuries if there were a crystal ball in August.

Heads Up Emyr...stick it to ‘em....back stronger.

Well Adeyemi and Huws have proved successful on their first season here but Huws sounds like he's going through one of those unlucky periods in his career and unfortunately for us at the wrong time.

Well the owner will have to get some players in January to reinforce the squad...not the end of the world but midfield and Defense needs some back-up.

Why is anyone surprised? He is injury prone. Thus a bargain. False economy a la Evans.

We are that club! Always chancing on players with potential and plenty of baggage !

Isnt it amazing? When we signed huws not 1 person criticised the club and everyone said whatva great signing. He gets a bad injury and alll of a sudden its the clubs fault. Ridiculous.

Gutting, comfortably our best midfielder, showing real class against Forest running the midfield, wanting the ball, appearing to have time on the ball.
Will be a big blow, one we must though absorb.
Wish you speedy recovery and look forward to seeing you back in a blue shirt soon.

This IMO is a real blow.
The only box to box midfielder we have had since Tommy Miller.
Now there is a position that needs addressing in January.
Unfortunately Micks insistence of having a small squad so everyone is happy is coming back to bite him

Bishop may not be the answer. As Libero has previously stated,he's only ever completed one 90 minute match in his ITFC career.

Gutted about this news. He really was our only "box to box" Midfielder.

Everyone we sign seems to get injured immediately there must be a reason. Either we are signing crocks or our training methods are rubbish.

Never understood why Cardiff wanted to sell such a talent.......maybe they knew he was injury prone

Because Evans refuses to dip in his pocket we have signed a number of injury prone players over the last few years. The question is are they worth the gamble?

The season was over well before this injury to Emyr mate! Also cant agree with your Didz comment, think he is very overrated and find him a bit of a plodder, yrs technically sound but boy is he slow! For me, Didz is not the future and we should look at blooding one of our younger, hungrier attackers!
Bad news for Emyr but is anyone really surprised?
Cant wait for season to end and hopefully it will bring a new dawn and new hope, Mick out!

Terrible news. For him and for us! As others have said we need Teddy Bish to step up now or never for this season. Also hope we get Adayemi back soon as he's been missed too. Can't help but wonder if all of a sudden we are trying to loan a #10 sort of player in January now.

TimmyH you've lost me - this is Adeyemi's first season here and all he's proved so far to date is how injury prone ( unfortunately ) he is.

in the short he sactually pent on the pitch, he showed why he is our most expensive player. I was looking forward to seeing him get even better over the coming months with more games under his belt. He'll be a massive loss.
Vitally imortant that Adeyemi & Bisshop get fit and stay fit for the rest of the season.

A great shame, not least because the combination of Huws and Dozzell looked really promising on paper ...

BLOODY HELL, waited all this time for him to get fit and play then in blink of an eye we lose him again, him and young Dozzel , a double whammy , good luck to them both on fitness recovery road .

Unbelievable 😔

Our best midfielder for many a season - when he's played performances have picked up.

Hope you come back stronger Emyr.

That midfield will definitely need an addition in January - someone not injury prone who can pick out a pass, create & knock in a few goals - easier said than done though apparently.

Lets hope the medical team at the club operated on the right knee---they had a 50/50 chance.

Most clubs would replace this guy in the window as he is so important, in the few minutes he actually played------guess we will just limp on as usual.

not me blues1...last season I thought (and I said this when we bought him) he was very in and out of games, the Norwich game last season he hardly touched the ball. I personally felt too many were regarding him of the saviour of our poor midfield last season, were we any better after we go him on loan last January - absolutely not!
