Bart: We Limited Their Chances and Might Have Nicked Something
Saturday, 23rd Dec 2017 20:23

Blues keeper Bartosz Bialkowski says he and his team-mates are disappointed not to have taken something from their 1-0 defeat at Wolves having restricted the Championship leaders to only a handful of chances and believing there was little in the game.

“We’re disappointed, they’re a good side and we knew before the game they’ve got decent players, they spent millions and millions of pounds over a couple of years and they’re top of the table for a reason,” he said.

“But saying that, we limited them to a couple of chances really, there was nothing in the game and I thought we could have nicked [a point] in the end.”

Bialkowski, 30, felt there were positives to be taken from the match: “Without the ball we were quite good, we tried to press them, we tried to follow the full-backs and we tried to be aggressive because we knew that if we gave them time we were going to have a long afternoon and that wasn’t the case today, so that’s the positive.

“Obviously there’s a negative, with the ball we could have done a bit better but they’re top of the table so we just need to move forward.”

Once again the Blues only narrowly lost to one of the division’s better sides, which is a continuing frustration.

“Every time you lose you’re always disappointed and that was the case today,” the Pole said. “But the games come so fast so we need to regroup and recover from it and make sure we’re ready.”

Bialkowski is happy with the Blues sitting in 10th, two points from the play-offs at the midway point, particularly given the fitness situation during the season’s opening five months.

“We had so many injuries, I’m not sure how many but there have been loads,” he added.

“We’re halfway through the season and we’re in and around the play-offs, no one would have thought we’d be in that position before the season.”

Three points off the playoffs Phil.
I've been slated for that already.

True Bart, but while we remain a team that 'just tries to nick something', we will never get promoted.

Once again Bart is using the McCarthy phraseology ie restricted them to a couple of chances and could have nicked a point in the end.

Mind you against Saturdays opposition this attitude is understandable;but unfortunately this is his Managers mindset all the time;at least up until now.

Always hope that one day the team will play like Bristol City, taking the game to the opposition as they did to Man Utd the other week;but fear that whilst Mick is here this wont happen.Mr Evans attitude I am afraid is somewhat different to Chairman Gibson at Boro.

I will go along as usual tomorrow
