Smith Extends Chelmsford Loan
Monday, 1st Jan 2018 15:07

Blues youngster Chris Smith has had his loan with Vanarama National League South side Chelmsford City extended for a further month.

Central defender Smith, 19, has been with the Clarets since September with his spell having been extended month to month and has now made 17 appearances for the Essex side without scoring.

Former Kesgrave High School pupil Smith, who featured for Chelmsford in this afternoon’s 2-2 local derby draw at home to Braintree, had a one-year option on his contract exercised by the Blues in the summer.

Meanwhile, keeper Nick Hayes, 18, has left Dunstable after two months on loan with the Evo-Stik South club.

Watched this game today. Chris looked very good and well built for his age.

Looking at the CCFC tweets he got MOTM today and the fans seem to love him. It would be good to see McCarthy give him a go: he's genuinely two footed and has been consistent in all the matches I've seen him play for 23s.

Butcherboy: the lad maybe very good, but the chances of Mick giving him a game are Zero

Mick give Chris a go, especially after tonight's efforts from the 1st team.
