Skuse and Smith Start at Fulham
Tuesday, 2nd Jan 2018 19:02

Cole Skuse and Tommy Smith return to the Town line-up for tonight’s opening game of 2018 against Fulham at Craven Cottage.

Skuse, who is back after his ankle injury, will take up his usual role in midfield alongside Callum Connolly. Kevin Bru drops to the bench.

Smith makes his first Town appearance since the 3-1 defeat at Cardiff on October 31st having got over the calf injury he suffered while on international duty with New Zealand. Adam Webster misses out due to the achilles problem he suffered on Saturday.

Luke Hyam is included on the bench for the first time this season having recovered from the knee operation he underwent in September. Hyam’s most recent appearance for Town was at Derby on the final day of the 2015/16 campaign.

David McGoldrick is also again among the subs with Grant Ward starting on the right of the trio behind Joe Garner with Martyn Waghorn in the centre and Bersant Celina on the left.

Adam McDonnell, who has been among the subs in recent matches, misses out as he is unwell.

For Fulham, Ollie Norwood and Aboubakar Kamara start with Tomas Kalas and Kevin McDonald dropping to the bench.

Fulham: Bettinelli, Fredericks, Sessegnon, Odoi, Johansen, Cairney (c), Ayité, Ream, Norwood, Ojo, Kamara. Subs: Button, Soares, McDonald, Kebano, Fonte, Piazon, Kalas.

Town: Bialkowski, Spence, Chambers (c), T Smith, Knudsen, Skuse, Connolly, Celina, Waghorn, Ward, Garner. Subs: M Crowe, Iorfa, McGoldrick, Hyam, Sears, Bru, Kenlock. Referee: Keith Stroud (Hampshire).

Good luck lads. Need to win this one. Attack them from the off as bench lacking players who can change the game - only McGoldrick.

Smith starting? According to one of the posters on this site, Smith was ‘5th choice'. So much for his reliable source. Hope Smith has a blinder. If Fulham play half as well as they did at Portman Road, he and the other 10 will need to!

COYB!

Nice to see Tommy back starting! Clearly missed Skuse the last couple matches despite the crap that gets wrote about him. Finally really pleased to see Hyam back as we all know how passionate he is and gives his all.

What's up with McGoldrick? Can't make the starting line up, behind Ward who is ordinary to say the least. Didn't look interested on Saturday??

Mcgoldrick was more dangerous in our half on Sat than in their half

Didsy certainly doesn't warrant a start with his display in last game;was he sulking, will he go in the window?

Unfortunately, unlike Bart and Moore, dont think he would fetch that much now ?

ronnyd... if moore plays it means he can only be sold to Rotheram as he will have played for 2 teams in the same season, if he does not play he can be sold to any interested party..
