McCarthy: No Suggestion of Not Seeing Season Out
Wednesday, 14th Mar 2018 13:02

Town boss Mick McCarthy says he has no intention of leaving the club before the end of the season.

Speaking to BBC Radio Suffolk after last night’s 3-0 defeat to Hull City which took place in a fractious Portman Road atmosphere, he said: "I have no intention of doing anything other than seeing the season out.”

Asked again if he might move on before the end of the campaign, he added: "Not at all with nine games to play. I'm going to Bristol City on Saturday fired up as ever. There's no suggestion of that for me now."

McCarthy, who has been in charge of the Blues since November 2012, is out of contract in the summer but with owner Marcus Evans having an option to extend his terms for a further two seasons.

The Town boss is among a number of members of staff and players at the club's golf day at Ufford Park today.

There are somewhere, then, some people ( maybe even some supporters !) who demonstrate the sort of respect ,decency and proper & loyal attitude we used to take for granted ,even if that was back when !
BUT what's happened, and appears to have caused consternation last evening , is just so truly unacceptable and in my view unworthy of ITFC and those who cherish all that is proper and good about our super Club !We can't always win ,all human beings have, singly or in groups , below par performances but can be lifted by the warmth and true support of those around them !
We sorely need some recognition of theses values !
ANDit would be most welcome if Mr Mikne could motivate himself to show some character and grit , demonstrate some keadership quality and address events and commit to improvement all round , expecaially from the top down !

There Is a real risk here that this club will never recover from the mcarthy/Evans era. I was born during our heyday and my dad needed little help in inspiring me to become a fan. With such terrible football it's neigh on impossible for my kids to escape the lure of the city's and United's of the world. You lose the kids and you you will eventually run out of fans. Lose fans and the club dies.

Something needs to be done and the only thing we can do is not attend the games. I have vowed not to return until the regime changes and I implore you all to do the same. Only that way will Evans get the message.

This is a man who knows how to annoy the fans.

His time is up.

Milne did state that the fans opinions and atmosphere at the ground would be taken into account and I hope he remains good to his word.

Now, were do we find that bright young thing?

It's all about the money, he won't go unless he is out of contract or fixed and paid off!
Nothing we can do except save our time and money, stay away support lower level teams until they have no choice and or no fans

This man really does believe that he is bigger than the club. I already hated him but how he hasn't thrown the towel in now is beyond me. He claims he wants to support the players but how can that be when he recognises that HIS presence puts them through what they experienced last night.

ME and Milne have to act now. They must relieve him of his duties. FFS just pay him off and get rid. Leaving him in place for the remainder of the season will do far more harm than anything else. A couple of months pay.!! What the hell is wrong with these people?!

Fired up as ever? You wrote the season off in February.

McCarthy: Play-Offs Now Unlikely 20th Feb 2018 17:06
Boss Mick McCarthy admits that it’s now unlikely that the Blues will finish in the play-offs this season. 37

We had everything to play for then.

Fired up as ever? You played six new players yesterday.

Fired up as ever for what exactly?

And by the way... I see there aren't too many faces standing round the great man in that picture from the golf club. Looks like there's plenty at the other end though, as far away from him as possible.

Think he should be paid off now.Bump in attendances would probably cover cost of short time left on contract,as things going from bad to worse.

Exactly @schuck! The 'Delusion of Grandeur' suffering dino of a man has absolutely Nought, Nil, Nada, Nothing, Zero, Zilch & Zip SELF-RESPECT or SHAME ....imho nor EMPATHY or REVERENCE with just about anyone, past & present associated with -- including it's very foundation & legacy! -- this once proud & admired club, not the least it's very lifeblood, the for sooo long success & entertainment staved fans!!!!!!!!!!!!
(Ahhh okay with the possible exception perhaps of his meticulously handpicked & nourished selection of ALWAYS bootlicking & staunch 'Proper Blokes' spearheaded by the likes of "In a Different Class" Chambo, SkuZzzey & Knudsy.) Blargh!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The toxic atmosphere at Portman Road is being created by the moronic derogatory chanting which does nothing to inspire the team on the pitch. In many ways this site is responsible as it provides a platform for the anti McCarthy brigade to whip up venom amongst those who think it is a good idea to jump on the bandwagon.
Maybe it is time for a change of manager, but it is also the time to get behind the team and SUPPORT as supporters should and not sling abuse.

I really did think he would have gone by now.

He must have hide thicker than a walrus!

A very strong willed man or a very stubborn man depending on how you choose to look at it I suppose?

Thinking about it logically, now the 'dust has settled' what difference will it make whether he is here for he remainder of the season? He's going to be anyway, no one upstairs is going to do anything about it are they?

Realistically is he going to be here next season?

No.

Financial suicide for the club and surely Evans doesn't want that.

We will all just have to sit tight and do what we do every year and watch the season fizzle out, or not watch along with us 15,000 minority that have made our decision and voting with our feet.

Why is it said that sarcasm is the lowest form of wit?

I quite like it personally

The problem is Evans, not McCarthy. We were losing games 7-1 and 6-0 to Peterborough and Blackpool before he arrived and hurtling towards League One. This season we're 12th, 22 points off the bottom three, safe with 10 games to spare on a bottom five budget that would have us in a relegation battle under most managers. McCarthy and his scouts have 40 years experience of this division. His grimly pragmatic but effective approach picks up points against opposition assembled at vastly greater cost even when we have a season full of horrendous injuries. The halfwits barracking the players last night, the team that had just picked up seven points out of nine, will doubtless force McCarthy out because they have made the Portman Road atmosphere so poisonous. There will be a brief respite under a new manager and then things will almost certainly get worse because no-one any good is going to want the job after seeing what has happened to McCarthy and Evans will still be providing a bottom five budget. Very few clubs binning pragmatic, experienced managers like Pulis, Allardyce, Mick, Curbishley have prospered. Take a look at Stoke, West Brom, Charlton, Blackburn, West Ham. No manager is going to get us up on Evans' under-investment, let alone playing super football. A fish rots from its head - Evans

@Bluepatriot - and a gullible fan that's what I'd call you..can't you see the bar is slowly and slowly being lowered with regards to ambition and what should be expected at this club. McCarthy's now going for the safety in numbers attitude and that all his players and staff are as one.

Eeee up Mick here, nowt wrongg with my management, we'll battle to the death, don't know what we're battling for but we're going to do it!...
