McCarthy: No Suggestion of Not Seeing Season Out
Wednesday, 14th Mar 2018 13:02

Town boss Mick McCarthy says he has no intention of leaving the club before the end of the season.

Speaking to BBC Radio Suffolk after last night’s 3-0 defeat to Hull City which took place in a fractious Portman Road atmosphere, he said: "I have no intention of doing anything other than seeing the season out.”

Asked again if he might move on before the end of the campaign, he added: "Not at all with nine games to play. I'm going to Bristol City on Saturday fired up as ever. There's no suggestion of that for me now."

McCarthy, who has been in charge of the Blues since November 2012, is out of contract in the summer but with owner Marcus Evans having an option to extend his terms for a further two seasons.

The Town boss is among a number of members of staff and players at the club's golf day at Ufford Park today.

At the very least I was expecting some announcement from the club today. After that shameful performance last night, a crowd of no more than 10 K, no goals at home in five and a toxic atmosphere, clearly all is not well. But, nothing. Goes to show that Evans really doesn't care. What a complete shambles and sorry mess.

Have any of you got the balls to protest at the next home game. Its easy to post it on here from the safety of your keyboards but it won't do any good. If you want change do something about it. I'm sure a big protest would have an effect, just don't do a West Ham.

6 changes. A change in formation and an improptue on pitch meeting. All signs of a manager who knows he is fighting for his job... Crowds are down and campaign to remove him.. Think MM days are numbered... Oh forgot to mention the F off to fan caught on live TV . i like MM as a person but he taken this club as far as he can.. Time to go.

I fully intended to go to the Millwall game on Easter Monday but I am now not going anywhere near PR that day. My £30 ticket money will be donated to the fund to help save Lowestoft Town FC a worthwhile cause and a team that deserve to survive and thrive.

I think the problem is that Mick signed the new contract last year. And ME who is only interested in points per pound, this was the easy option.

No-one saw MM losing it at Norwich, or the decline attendances.

What does ME do now? MM is probably talking via his solicitor to negotiate a 2yr contract write off.

And Ian Mline? Where are you? You're PR guy.... Where's Marcus Evans????

Well this sums it all up for me. The club is in crisis, the supporters are sick and tired of this guys b.s and are leaving in droves. Anger vented from the terraces and instead of sorting things out today and having an enquiry, they go and play golf!!! What a bloody joke we really are!!!

Aye it's VERY easy to post here (or just about anywhere else within the luvely & democratic UK) from the quote "safety of your keyboard" .... hmmmm just ask the predominantly either dead-silent or else just unsound & obnoxious OCD's (Obsessive Compulsive Downvoters) @Rabbitt, @SillyBillyIstheBest & @Swn98 etc. :-) LOL :-) .... But I sincerely hope you @Skip73 are not in any way implying that any of us "non-geriatric" Anti-MM'ers are in any form or shape physically afraid or otherwise intimidated of some from the very very MYTHICAL sounding so called "Silent Majority" of inferred Pro-MM'ers at PR (or elsewhere), as if they might actually ambush or bum-rush any of us and try to s@ckerp@nch us out or something similar feeble-minded??? :-) lol :-)

Naaah hopefully you are not , as this after all, simply put is the **well-being** of a once proud & revered football club dear to many of us (regardless of which fan camp you happen to reside in) which is at stake & up for debate here folks, not bloody Civil War -like matters for crying out loud! Period!

Anyways, you @Skip73 and likely many many others fans of various persuasions were looking for some sort of a demonstrative event .... so VOILA! amazing @MickZzz here bring you news f such an supposedly very ehhhh demonstrative sounding but obviously peaceful event!:

https://www.facebook.com/events/464234997328820/

courtesy of them fabulous **IMproper Blokes ( & Gals)** :-D :-D with the 'MARCUS EVANS OUT OF ITFC' facebook group https://www.facebook.com/marcusevansgroupitfc/ set for the April 2nd home game versus Millwall.

Now pleas note that how many eventually will participate in this upcoming "event" (or others more protest-minded ones) is not for me to neither personally engage in nor speculate on....
However should it become somewhat of a "dud" well I don't really think It would be down to mere "cohones size" lol, rather much more likely it would be that notorious & eons old "SUFFOLK SPIRIT :-) :-) :-) :-) consisting of a very odd mixture of "Misguided complacency"; "Utter resignation ...to the APPARENT futility of it all"( i.e. in this particular instance trying to make or force Marcus Evans into suddenly both be knowing & caring one iota about football!!! & and what being in the best interest of his very own moribund looking football club!!!); "Just minding my own business, dah!" and hence not really wishing to be seen or in ANY WAY identified as one of them literally pushing to be "Rocking the proverbial Boat"!

Here you are McCarthy lovers a few facts that might interest you who blame Evans .
98 signings during his reign how many have been any good I can tell you 6 at most Bart , Skuse,
Waghorn, Garner and probably Connolly the rest have been allowed to leave as they were useless this must have cost ME a fortune.
The most games at home without scoring a goal 5
The longest time in our history without beating Norwich
The worst record of any Ipswich manager in cup competitions
The worst attendances for league game for many many years as the actual attendance was well under 10000
Still love this moron

Bluey123... has it really been 98 signings? Crikey! I thought the number would be quite high but I didn't think it would be that high! There have been some good signings, more than you suggest to be fair, but the bad ones far outnumber them. The inners often claim that his record in the transfer market is one of the AMAZING things about the great man but it really isn't. He signs an awful lot of players that never ever come to anything.

I have said this before, Just ask your self how do Brentford manage? Their gates are smaller than ours, they don't have a rich backer yet their manager plays direct , open football on the ground as it should be played. Pound for pound are their players any better than ours? Look at their league position you McCarthy lovers and then tell me there is not a better way

Well, one thing that ME and MM have been successful at is to manage the expectations of the fans down to the lowest point possible.
They say it's a results-based business.
Take a look at the results Mr Evans.

Oh, I forgot, you're not there, are you?

I think we could do with a bit of perspective about all this.

Firstly let's remember we are talking about a game of football and supporting our team. I know people get emotional about football and their team but it's not life and death no matter how excited you get.

Also some of the bile and comments on this site are a bit over the top. Nothing wrong with fair comment but no need to get into personal stuff.

The toxic atmosphere and chasm with the fans also seems to me to be a bit over the top. I sit in the Coop stand and don't ever hear anyone round me being toxic. Bit disappointed with the football sometimes and some of the results and moans about individual players but not much criticism of the manager. It normally seems to be a small section of the North Stand and about 30 or so posters on this site.

It seems to me that MM has done a pretty impressive job with the cards he has been dealt. He has signed some good players for us, Waggy, Garner, Celina, Skuse, Webster, Connolly, Adeyami, Huws, Knudsen- not sure if he signed Bart or not. We are above Norwich still and that's a measure of an improving picture. MM has blooded several youngsters and we have some good prospects coming through. This season we not doing as well as any of us hoped although remember we were favourites for relegation with some commentators. Luck has not been with us this season with our best midfield players injured virtually all season (Huws, Adeya, Dozzell and Bishop). Not forgetting that at the start of the season we had no centre halfs available either.

In my view MM is a good manager who has done a good job of gradually improving the squad. He does not deserve some of the comments directed his way and frankly I would have hoped for better from Ipswich fans. I'm also disappointed with some of the media who in their desire for a good headline and talking point are quite happy to pursue the toxic theme.

The result against Hull was disappointing but to be fair to MM he was a bit stuck really. At least he could not be accused of not attacking from the off and not setting up to defend a point. It was an attack minded team but sadly our attack without Garner and Waghorn is a bit toothless. I think it's time for Freddie and Hyam to pursue their careers in new pastures and hope that some of our better injured players are available next season. In a perfect world MM would have played Garner, Skuse and Connolly all game but obviously they were not available so what was MM to do?

I am sure I will get well marked down by the vocal minority but hope I'm speaking for the quite majority. Either way it would be great to drop the vitriol and abuse and get behind the manager and importantly the team as that's in every true supporters interest.

Let's hope for a stronger team being available Saturday and a decent result. COYB

Chestnuts... I gave up reading your post when you listed Knudsen as one of mcCarthy's good signings. Adeyami too? What has he played? 4 times? Basically he's been injured for an entire season and you list him as a good signing! What are you talking about?

Thanks for the warning Mick.

Your position has been untenable for two years, you have since belittled the fans on a regular basis, culminating in the royal F*ck off at Narrich, and delivered football of a quality that the vast MAJORITY of Town fans HATE. ME please pay him the money he is asking for those dubious photo's he must have of you, and get him out now.

Alternatively Mick, can you spit at a 14 year old girl on your way home.

I'm that desperate, and now beginning to run out of ideas of how to get rid of you

ChestnutSe.. you obviously were not at last nights game if you think all the anti Mcarthy chants came from the North Stand. I sit in SAR stand and us normal passive fans were spitting feathers and letting the idiot in charge know how we felt. Going back to the coop stand, not surprised you didn't here anything as the stand was nearly empty. Most ST holders are not attending anymore. Might I suggest you take off your blue tinted glasses the next time you venture to PR.

I am not a huge fan of Mick but always get behind whichever manager we have - he has brought in some fab players and a few donkeys along the way - how many managers would have been able to what he has done with the resources he has been given. I totally understand the annoyance of the poor tactics at times but we are not managers - we have to support him and his decisions albeit some are poor. If we get on his and the players backs anymore we will end up in deeper dooodoos. I am a firm believer that grass aint greener always on the other side - but remember he has saved us from League 1 when he took over for which I am eternally grateful - ok we may need a new manager to take us back to where we should be in fighting for the play offs, but with the resources I don't think there is a dynamic manager to do that at present - if he does go I pray we don't regret it

I think MM will stay on just to put 2 fingers up to the
Negative Brigade
This type of support is not welcome, you moaners
Don't own the club
You have never been a professional manager for a
Professional football club
Just punters with an opinion
You can't hold a club to ransom as you lot are a minority

"No Suggestion of Not Seeing Season Out"

Except from about 10,000 fans - but then of course, with his regular rudeness, we're invisible to him - and ME - that's the problem ...

Hmmm @ChestnutSE + new KID on the block, the ultra condescending wannabe super macho fan @BluePatriot, please both enlighten the rest of us here at twtd with some *hard facts & figures* of this MYTHICAL pro-mm majority you keep hinting at.... especially us so called (by the elegantly reasoning & hyper polemical @BluePatriot LOL!) "treasonous taunters, punters & moaners" are all ears!!! :-) :-)

Disagree with most of BluePatriots post, except the first sentence. Do feel MM will stay. Hypothetically if you were ME, would you keep with MIck? Remember his experiences with other managers (Keane and Jewell, not Magilton who was out of the door far too quick). He wants stability. MIck offers mid-table mediocrity which might be enough.

On the "silent majority of MM supporters" issue, see that every week in player ratings across sites and polls. Also see it on the forum. Those who post in both places know the forum is much more supportive of MM (generally). I am a MIck-outer but think he will stay. Turgid and awful football? Absolutely. But he does bring in a few good results and operates off a very tight budget, all things ME will consider. Think it's hard to argue that Keane or Jewell did a better job. Magilton on the other hand? Massive mistake to let him go. If he'd have been given the resources Keane was given, I'm sure we would have gone up that season.

And in one of today's tabloids the manager of Manchester United is being accused of negative tactics. Now where have I read about "negative tactics " before
