Adidas Expected to Continue as Kit Supplier
Monday, 23rd Apr 2018 10:36

Managing director Ian Milne says he expects adidas to continue as the Blues’ kit supplier beyond the end of the season when the current contract finishes.

The club agreed a four-year deal with adidas, who had previously manufactured Town kits from 1977/78 - including the iconic strips worn as Sir Bobby Robson’s side won the FA Cup in that first season and then the UEFA Cup three years later - until 1989/90, back in 2014.

“We’re in discussions with adidas and I think all will be well on that,” Milne told BBC Radio Suffolk’s Life’s a Pitch. “Adidas is a great brand, Ipswich Town is a great brand.

“I’m sure we will continue. It’s a discussion at the moment, there are no issues there

"There’s been a change of management within adidas and I think it’s a case of certain things they need to get together. I don’t see any hitches there at all.”

I hope so. Adidas kits look good and are decent quality. Plus the association with Ipswich during some of the best years in our history makes it feel right to use them as our kit supplier.

Does this mean a deal hasn't been done? When are we going to finalise a kit deal then? I thought these things (including kit designs etc? were organised months in advance... Very odd situation, if this is correct.

I wonder of we will have a 40th year cup anniversary retro kits out for next season.

Please can we have another orange away kit rather than the current horrible red one?

Discussion?

The new kit would normally be revealed by now wouldn't it?

Milne with his finger on the pulse as usual.

I haven't bought a shirt in years and nothing of the new offerings would entice me to do so. They look dreadful with that Magical Vegas logo and at around £50 I can't honestly justify the expense.
Pity the clubs have gone the route of changing both shirts every season just to try and screw more cash from the punters. I like the NFL rule where they change every 5 years unless there is a change of ownership.

The black kit above but in blue would be amazing! Like the bleach dipped kit of 1996

Milne is right at the core of what is wrong with our Club at the moment. Hope we does not survive a managerial change as he adds no value at all.

How have we not got our kit sorted for next year yet. Sales opportunities being missed all over the place. In any normal business, i bet in any other ME business, heads would role. Maybe Magical Vegas will get annoyed and pull the plug. Not great for our finances, but brilliant in terms of credibility and setting a positive role model to kids.

This guy is pointless.

What does he do?

Quite aside from the fact that I'm about as interested in who produces the kit as I am in the brand of bog roll we use, he tells us about a kit deal that isn't done, a manager he isn't responsible for finding, who hasn't actually been recruited yet, and an unformed plan for a concert no one has agreed to yet.

I find it facinating that when the last incumbent manager publicly tells his own supporters to F off, he says nothing, and then is happy to give us aload of hot air like this. He has a well paid job at a club that we are frequently told has one of the lowest budgets in the division. Can we not spend this low budget more wisely?

Marinerswage.. do know the orange relevance and remember those days, just don't like the orange kit. Well styled shirts sell well

don't care who makes it really, with that obscene looking magical vegas badge I won't be spending my hard earned cash to look like an idiot.

can we get rid of the cringeworthy stars above the badge too. Maybe one for the League Championship but really every trophy? Some clubs wold have a milky way on their shirts.
