Evans Interview Released Tomorrow
Tuesday, 24th Apr 2018 17:13

Town owner Marcus Evans’s long-awaited first on-camera interview is to be released at midday tomorrow.

Evans has been interviewed by iFollow Ipswich with the video being put out on YouTube and available on TWTD.

“This club is nothing without the fans,” Evans told iFollow Ipswich in the interview in which he also talks about what he’s looking for in the club’s next manager, when the appointment will be made, entertainment, squad investment and why he’s chosen to speak out at this point, 10 and a half years into his ownership.

“The fans make Ipswich Town what it is and it’s my responsibility - and everyone else at the club - to make sure Ipswich Town is at the heart of the community.

“The disenchantment that has built up over the last two seasons, which is built on years of frustration, is something I am really determined to turn around.

“It’s going to be a new era with a new manager. We are going to try something different. It’s going to be calculated but it’s going to be different.

“Let’s hope it works. Let’s hope it bring a greater togetherness for the fans. I know from all the players that when the fans are onside and we are all pulling in the same direction, that can be the difference to us getting where we want to be.”

Hi
Been reading TWTD for a long long time but just joined.

Glad that all the responses have been measured and optimistic - wouldn't want those forum muppets to get all smug with their air of superiority regarding this site.

Are we going to get a female manager?

Don't know whether I shall be able to sleep tonight now lol !!!

Seriously though about time, and it would appear that Marcus has taken some of the fans views on board.

Arc that would be good to hear;but to use a McCarthy phrase "Think we are pi....ng in the wind".He could still unload 35% to Ed et al,and still be the majority shareholder;and raise some cash for his back pocket though ?

Blandford.Agree that we could do with a Director of Football, who we hear about.Unlike the present incumbent, who was appointed by Mick, and is also Chief Scout. Will probably go if his mate McCarthy gets an appointment;as he did 5 1/2 year ago.

Think that is the best photo I have seen of MR Evans Phil.

It would be good if he announced our new Manager tomorrow to get more season ticket money in before April 30th deadline, although would be contrary to what Mr Milne said over the weekend ??? !!!

Going forward it would also be nice if he attended AGM's in future.

I don't believe we will be any the wiser tomorrow as new manger/director of football will be employed as present, not going to give budget away as telling clubs what you have is never a good idea.
Will be nice to hear from him tho.

I really want to be impressed. I really want to believe that this is more than just the right words.
Let's see what transpires.
Surely anyone can see that after the past few years, even the most amenable supporters will take some convincing.
If this is empty words like the 5 point plan, we're doomed - simple as that.
If he were to tell us exactly how the 5 point plan is to be implemented with measurable milestones along the way, I'd be happy as Larry.

The merest hint of spin or deception and he might as well close the club down. General opinions on ‘the morons' are well documented on here, but they're the minority of the whole support base. We're not stupid - I hope that the more hysterical, aggressive, desperate to be offended by anything ‘supporters' are accepted as an irritating side show to the vast majority of supporters who want a realistic, sustainable club that gets back to the things we're good at; entertaining football and an ethos of nurturing our own young players (Beattie, Dyer, Dozzell senior and junior) and making sensible signings of emerging players from lower divisions (Mariner, Holland, Cresswell) and the occasional experienced pro to steady the ship (Mowbray, Williams). We'll always need to cash in on some players along the way.

No one in their right mind is asking for silly investment - ultimately it didn't work for Sheepshanks after our successful Premier league season in 2000,and significantly it didn't work for Evans in the early days either.

I don't doubt that Evans as a successful business man is frustrated by the last 10 years, but whether he genuinely wants success, wants a stable asset to sell, or doesn't give a toss he's seriously short of credibility now and has to get this right.

I'm not fussed if it's an ex player or not, and I'm no more a ‘football man' than Evans himself, but I am in the camp of an older, experienced Director of Football alongside a young upcoming manager. I hate the thought of the Pardew/McClaren/Redknapp merry go round and God forbid it's a serial loser like Cotterill.

This time tomorrow we'll have no more than a clue. In three months time we'll have an indication, in six months we'll know. Please get it right this time - not just the right manager, but the strategy, and the feeling we are building something, showing imagination and looking to long term success.

...and why does anyone think Ed Sheehan has anything to offer other than a bucket load of money?I'm sure he's a decent enough chap, but bloody hell.

Donald Trump has a vast fortune too, but I wouldn't want him any where near the club either, albeit for very different reasons.

Watching the BT Sport Liverpool pre-match stuff, and Steve Gerrard looks like he's got there straight from an interview! ;-)

Marcus Evans looked cold and lonely last Sat. by the look of the photo in the EADT. as most of us sat in T shirts and shorts watching the game ???
But the Fans kept behind the team the whole game even though we were losing, so something was right !!!

Really hope I am wrong but we have heard this all before. Come on ME prove me wrong. We need a lot of investment.

Walktheline- after 3 years of suppressing my positivity, I'm simply bursting mate! As you know I've never had a problem with ME, personally couldn't give a flying one if Marcus turned up tomorrow wearing a bra and hot pants, long as he delivers!

Last home game of the season against Middleboro' - let's ALL get down to Portman Road and make the place rock, and sing, like never before.

Lets show Marcus Evans what this Club is all about - in so doing he will see what he has been missing, as well as us, over the past few years.

He will have no option but to invest, when we show him how we can make the place rock.

Good crowd against Villa, but lets make it an even better one against Boro' - McCarthy has gone so lets get moving.

COME ON YOU BLUES. If there is any miserable beasts left out there - CHEER UP, it's all good once again.

This is a good start. Ten years overdue, but a good start, none the less. Assuming, of course he says anything of real substance. Maybe this olive branch can be the start of a better fan/owner relationship. God knows we need it. I'll hold final judgment until I watch the video tomorrow. Could be smoke, could be a feasible game plan.

Is it just me that thinks this man is actually a total joke and really needs to move on? 10 1/2 years and nobody really knows who he is? Is it because they tightening up on selling dodgy concert tickets? ( sorry joking) but really isn't it about time he sold up? Looking forward to what he really has to say and what direction he wants us to go? Up hopefully!! Sorry but think he's a joke of an owner..... going on billy mark me down .. you tw at

Can't help but agree with the great majority of posters on here. Whoever it is, even if it's not your/our, personal choice, give him a chance (i'm assuming it is a him), and get behind "him" and the team, and see where it takes us!

As Brad Pitt always says “Its dodgy ground. Huddersfield Town last season fielded a weakened team against Brum - our relegation rivals having already sealed a playoff position.”

Heard from my Black Dog, the ultimate reliable source inside the club, that Evans is preparing a 5 point plan over 3 years which will involve Milne having a more hands on say in team building, players bought. Till today 11 interviews have been conducted and in pole position according to availability and placement is Kuqi but milne having a bigger say alround.
