Town Target Tilt Not on Rangers' List Friday, 20th Jul 2018 16:39
Blackpool central defender Curtis Tilt, the subject of two Blues offers, is not believed to be on Rangers' summer wish-list despite the Scottish Premiership giants having run the rule over the 26-year-old.
Those Town bids, the second an offer of £550,000, have been rebuffed with the Seasiders targeting £1 million for Tilt.
We understand the Blues remain interested in the ex-Wrexham defender but Blackpool are believed to be in no immediate hurry to negotiate a deal and are hoping to receive further interest from elsewhere.
Reading, QPR and Portsmouth are among the other clubs also believed to have been eyeing the left-sided centre-half, who has a year left on his contract at Bloomfield Road.
Town may be willing to increase their offer, while Blackpool would appear likely to have to drop their asking price the closer it gets to the end of the transfer window if no other seriously interested parties emerge.
Rangers had been thought to be among the potential bidders having watched Tilt in action in a recent friendly, however, according to the Press Association he is well down their list of targets with Millwall’s Jake Cooper, for whom they have already made three offers, at the top.
Walsall-born Tilt played in non-league for Halesowen Town, Hednesford Town, AFC Telford Town, Wrexham and Forest Green Rovers (loan) before joining Blackpool last summer.
He made 45 starts for the League One side in 2017/18, his first EFL campaign, scoring once and picking up three Seasiders’ player of the season gongs.
New Blues manager Paul Hurst, who is believed to have been interested in Tilt since his time as Shrewsbury boss, said last week he is in the market for two more central defenders with Adam Webster having departed for Bristol City.
Meanwhile, Hurst says a third keeper isn't on his list of summer targets with Harry Wright, 19, the son of former Blue Richard, having impressed him during pre-season.

Looks a good solid player who loves to run out from the back. Definitely looks good enough to play in the Championship! Give them the £800k and move onto the next few few targets. We've been culprits far too many times in the past for taking too long and they move onto other clubs!
Nearly a quarter of a century ago now we paid £1 million for Steve Sedgley (back in June 1994), our club seems to be have been frozen in time when it comes to paying the needed transfer fees to compete! If we rate him then why not just pay what we need to get it done? £550k seems nowhere near their valuation, why don't we at least try £800k or £850k as if we keep on messing about somebody else could step in and pay what's needed to get it done. That said, I don't know much about him, but if Hurst rates him then please Marcus just get it done!
I know it's a highlights compilation but he looks very assured at bringing the ball out of defence with the bonus of finding one of his own players when he does pass it. Works for me!!
I'm all for playing it out from the back, but surely this guy is doing to much at the back?? Get the impression in the league above a number of them moves would have backfired.
Looks to me from the footage that he can step to championship level, hard to knock off the ball, composed under pressure, good turn of pace, likes to run with the ball and can complete a pass. He gets a 👠from me, looks a better player than what Webster was when we bought him.
Looks a great player, not what I expected when I clicked on a highlights reel for a Blackpool centre-back! Mixture of an old fashioned defender with his strength and tackling ability, but also a John Stones-style player who is fantastic on the ball with quick feet and sensible trickery in tight spaces. Excellent and I'd happily play him in the first team next year. £1 million would be absolutely fine but the cheaper the better COYB!
