![]() Friday, 28th Jun 2002 08:50 Town defender Jamie Clapham says that Town have to avoid making mistakes against the smaller First Division clubs. During previous Nationwide campaigns the Blues have done well against the top teams but have often dropped points against the smaller sides, most notably, Crewe Alexandra. Clapham says that he expects Derby, Leicester and Wolves to be joining Town near the top of the table: "But it is not so much those games we are looking at, as normally we seem to do well against bigger teams. "It is the smaller clubs in previous years in the First Division we have gone to and not done so well, so we have to be mentally right for those games ahead." "I imagine it will be difficult to adjust from going to the likes of Anfield and Old Trafford to the Bescot for example and looking at the fixture list we may well wonder what are we doing here. But we only have ourselves to blame, we got ourselves in this position. "We were here two years ago and got out of it, now we have to do it again." Clapham added that the sight of so many fans queuing to renew their season tickets yesterday gave the players a big boost. Today marks the final days that tickets can be purchased at frozen prices.
