Dozzell and El Mizouni Could Win Caps
Monday, 15th Oct 2018 10:08

Midfielder Andre Dozzell could win his first England U20s cap this evening when the Young Lions take on the Czech Republic in the U20s Elite League in Budejovice (KO 5pm), while Idris El Mizouni is with the Tunisian Olympic squad who face Italy in Vicenza.

Dozzell, 19, replaced team-mate Trevoh Chalobah in the England squad last week having initially joined up with the party just to train along with Flynn Downes. However, the on-loan Chelsea man was withdrawn due to a minor injury.

The Blues academy product was an unused sub as the England youngsters beat Italy 2-1 in another Elite League game on Thursday but appears likely to win his first cap at U20s level this evening. Dozzell has previously represented England at U17, U18 and U19 levels.

Town’s U18s assistant manager Kieron Dyer joined head coach Paul Simpson’s staff for last week’s get-together and will continue to work with the former Carlisle, Preston and Shrewsbury boss at the next few training camps.

El Mizouni, 18, has spent the last week with the Tunisian Olympics squad - an U23s side - and came on as a sub in a training game against domestic side Club Africain last Wednesday, winning the penalty which led to the decisive goal.

The academy youngster, who has made an impressive start to the season having broken into Town's U23s on the strength of his early displays for the U18s, will win his first cap at any level if he is involved in this evening’s friendly against the Italians.

France-born El Mizouni, who is with a Tunisia squad for the first time, qualifies via his father.

Wonder if we can keep hold of Dozzell until the end of this season? I have my doubts some how.

If he is deemed worthy of a spot in that U20s team then he must be viewed as every bit as good a player as the PR faithful have felt was the case.

PH probably hit the tipping point before the Swansea game and accepted that protecting his job may have to come ahead of protecting Andre from injury and/or scouts!

Hope he is no more than a sub, otherwise there is no way he starts on Saturday in a game we can and need to win.

Very true PRT . I think PH's handvwas forced. I have heard that his dad wasn't impressed with the loaning out plan and reportedly said AD would be handing in a transfer request in Jan. I really hope this isn't true. But suppose we have to accept players like AD will move in and become established PL players. Just hope we get a very good deal and sell on clause when he does depart. We never see the best of Academy players before they get snapped up so we!
