Lambert's First Town Press Conference Live on TWTV at 9am on Tuesday
Monday, 29th Oct 2018 11:30

Paul Lambert’s first press conference as Town manager will be shown live on TWTV from 9am on Tuesday morning.

Lambert was confirmed as the Blues’ new boss on Saturday morning, Paul Hurst having been sacked on Thursday.

The 49-year-old former Scotland international has signed a contract which runs to 2021 and has been joined at Portman Road by assistant manager Stuart Taylor, first-team coach Matt Gill and fitness coach Jim Henry.

Lambert, who met the squad and staff for the first time yesterday having watched Saturday's 3-0 defeat at Millwall from the stands, will be speaking to the media at Playford Road.

I hope he managed to sleep ok after watching Saturdays game and then coming face to face with the players yesterday. I wish Paul Lambert all the best and I for one am glad he's now in charge. Just hope he doesn't fall out with ME over what is required and the size of the budget actually needed after so many years of everything being underfunded. I look forward to his 1st interview with great interest.

Good luck Paul I don't think there are many better more experienced managers out there who are stupid enough to take this job. I personally think no one will save us from the drop, having to wait til January to bring some players in is too late, these group of players are terrible but if Paul does keep us up he deserves a medal! And as for the £10m being available what a load of rubbish heard it all before.

These are sad times and I am very worried!

It will be a minor miracle if Lambert gets us out of this mess. Still numbed by how badly the new strategy failed so badly. Still get the feeling the unrest remains in the squad after the McCarthy departure. Bart, Chambers and Knudsen were 3 of our worst players on Saturday and they are supposed to be seasoned professionals who I hoped would be the backbone of the new regime. Sadly Chambo really does not look up to it and I am still amazed we let Wolfenden go out on loan. Some really bad decisions have been made during the Hurst tenure regarding our youngsters. Just praying Lambert will be the saviour we need but won't hold my breath as he is dealing with a lot of lower division players who so far have not proved their worth. Very sad times at this wonderful football club.

As I've said earlier, I think we probably will go down, but PL may well be the one needed to get us back up - if he's willing to stay.

I fear Lambert will need twice that alleged amount to keep us up as he'll be picking over or tempting players who are at safer clubs or mercenaries marking players up. Think what we sold want-away players Waghorn, Garner and Webster for, and add 25%. But we need half a team or more!
Also, sadly, spending that in January will leave little to nothing for 2019/20. Let's hope Lambert's nouse can get us a great deal or two from the Prem second strings, and he and the new team can poach a couple or three wins by Christmas, somehow. Then we have a chance. There is ALWAYS a chance...

If PL cant bring a good big British centre forward and c/d not to say left back to replace the atrocious Knudsen (38% pass rate to a Town player at Millwall, and an international player!!!) etc etc in then he must surely have great scouting contacts in Germany and maybe other Euro countries. Farke is doing brilliantly at Nodge now with his foreign legion and they even lost Madison

Agree he's got a big big job but other teams have been in as bad if not worse positions in October and stayed up so lets see. What we need to do as fans is get behind him and the team need a big big crowd v Preston on Saturday. If your a true fan BE THERE

It was great at Millwall so another show of support from the fans is all we can do.

I suspect he will be looking at the free players list and trying to find enough quality for us to survive and the look at rebuilding from the disaster that was Hurst.

Plenty of players free out there, hopefully Lambert knows lots of them. He won't be waiting till January. Predicting he will make his first signing within a fortnight.

Make no mistake, PL is experienced at both PL and Championship level, the fact that he didn't hesitate to come to us proves one of two things - either he was just keen to get himself on another decent contract somewhere, or he feels he has unfinished business in East Anglia. We all want the latter to be the case, and time will indeed tell.

He will have what it takes to sort the wheat from the chaff in the squad - a few will need to get their skates on for sure. This is obviously needed post haste, and no one will take him for a fool. He'll know what he's looking for.

The Norwich connection feeling is futile - and only for children maybe - he's here now, and with us - give the guy the guy the backing he deserves for taking the job on.
He's obviously no more for the Carrot Road Clan anymore, than any of us are. Move on.

Can P.L. save Evans bacon? Unlikely in my opinion, but I have little doubt he will give everything, giving it a go.

The damage has been done. Hurst ripped this squad apart, whilst Evans not only stood by and let him, but more than happily raked in the cash - reinvesting a little over half of the £10M received. This of course is after years and years of under investment into the playing squad.

Let's hope Evans is ashamed.

Not saying it will happen again but in season 1956-57 we were bottom of Division 3 (South) with only 4 points from the first 9 games and we went on to win the league.

I'm really pleased we've Paul Lambert in. Don't know why we didn't go for him in the first place tbh.

Now let's REALLY get behind him and the players he picks. Starting this Saturday .

Good luck PL. I'm sure you can turn things around. Only 5 points from safety and 10 from mid-table obscurity, so plenty of time to make an impact. Gotta try to look on the positive side when there's a new manager in town.

Players involved in Millwall poor show should be ashamed of themselves. To perform like that in front of new coaches is sad. Clinical Attitude desperately required.. I have hope

Excellent interview. No bull~~#. Modest but confident. "What matters is the players and the fans," "We've got to win matches," "I don't like slow football," "We'll be on the front foot," "If they're good enough, I'll play them, no problem [re- the yoofs]." I may not have quoted exactly, but that's the gist of it. I might even dare to believe; it was that convincing. Let's be avin you against Preston on Saturday. COYB!

The worrying thing is Lambert himself said you wouldn't had thought the club was the position it's in considering how upbeat all appeared to be! Some need shaking up big time! Too many 'coasting' at present, something Lambert definitely won't be tolerating!
