Chambers: Positive Results Will Come
Sunday, 30th Dec 2018 15:57

Skipper Luke Chambers insists that positive results will come if the Blues continue playing as they are at present. He says the squad still believe they can beat the drop.

“The belief is still there that we can get out of it,” Chambers told iFollow Ipswich following the 2-0 defeat at Middlesbrough yesterday.

“We know if we can carry the plan through that the manager has brought in, the results will come. They have to.

“It’s enjoyable to play in but the results are not enjoyable, but I’m convinced that will change.

“No one would have expected us to get anything [on Saturday] against a squad that has cost millions but we dominated the game for periods.”

Chambers felt the key moment at the Riverside was referee Jeremy Simpson’s decision to award a harsh penalty when Jordan Spence was adjudged to have hauled over Jordan Hugill as they challenged for an aerial ball.

“The referee’s decision for the penalty changed the game,” he added. “That was frustrating and some of the decisions that have gone against us lately have been baffling.

“Every tiny mistake seems to be punished at the moment but that’s what happens when you are where we are in the table.

"The way we're playing is still encouraging, though, and it's enjoyable to be a part of.

"Yes it's a results business but we can't continue playing the way we are and not pick up good results.

"We need to be more ruthless when we are on top in games and have more belief in attacking areas."

Also have to say the sooner we get rid of that horrible home kit with the yucky logo on the better!...it's cursed I'm telling you

Sorry Mr Chambers your a big part of the reason we are in this mess always looking at others when it's actually your mistakes costing us along with other players.I would be sacked if I made as many bad decisions you have made on the pitch no doubt you should have been dropped along with Bart ages ago.loyal to our club that's about all.sorry but sometimes the truth hurts.

Oh dear, some really bitter comments on here. My opinion is that our strike force is so poor, with the exception of Freddie who isn't by any stretch a lead goal scorer, that when the ball keeps getting lost up front, it simply comes back at an already weakened defence, who of course will make mistakes when tested so many times during a game. PL is playing what he thinks is our best attack but literally none of them are capable of playing anywhere near this level and you have to blame PH for that, or if it is to believed, all of our main strikers wanted to leave at the same time to be closer to their families. One things for sure, we need a Murphy type player in January, hopefully that will take the pressure off the defence

I'm still keeping the faith that we can avoid the drop. I believe that the back 4 look as weak as they do as they are consistently put under huge pressure from the lack of cutting edge we have at the top end of the pitch. As for PL mzking things worse???? That's the most bizarre comment of the season!!! What is expected of the guy? He has not yet had the opportunity to make his mark, at least give him a trsnsfer window to see what he's about!!

We have 21 games to gain 30 points (possibly more). We have 15 points from 25 games thus far. I'm trying to stay positive but the numbers are against us.

We can't score goals, we can't defend, both keepers are unreliable. We have no money and little hope of attracting the quality we need in January.

We DO have a good manager but I'm not convinced he can orchestrate one of the greatest escapes in English football with the resources at his disposal.

He is the captain so what else should he say ? Not too many leaders on here tonight as usual. About time Phil pulled a few out for language. No wonder there are so few posters nowadays.

I can't understand how you can dominate the game in periods
You either do or dont!!

Bert what you going on about? It's freedom of speech I'm glad to say? Our captain is useless and shouldn't be picked simple really!!!

Second lowest goal tally in the league. 19 goals in 25 games. Worst defense record in the league with 43 conceded. We have issues from one end of the pitch to the other. Can't score goals and can't stop letting them in. Where are these positive results coming from exactly?

Dukey44. Freedom of speech is a given and one we should celebrate. However, this site is demeaned by the regular use of hidden bad language and semi libellous content which I will always call out. When posters are calling others morons it makes my case. Think about it. Anyone can make a strong point by being civilised.

Luke you are positive & blue through & through but unless Evans pimps a Sheff liad of money in we are going down .. & the only plus is wecant go straight to league 2 coz we really are that bad.

Only good thing this season is we finally got a proper manager in lambert but once he realises Evans is full of sh1te he will leave. Hope not coz we will become Coventry mk II.

Ok so what I read is that we will not have any new players in by the time we kick off against Millwall which is an absolute 100% must win. That is because signings have to be made by 12 noon the day before (ie still December and not in the window). Can someone confirm?
In my opinion we do not have a team good enough to win that game on January 1st.
If you go through the whole team I wonder how many career goals there are? Not many...

I am not sure that relegation would be a bad thing. It will end the stigma of being the longest running championship team. What they should do is accept that this is not our year, get rid of all the loan players and play our own youngsters for the rest of the season. If they get used to playing championship football for the rest of the season they will gell together and will be a force in league 1 next season.

I'm pretty sure we won't get 6 points against Miwwaull and Rotherham - maybe 4 if we're lucky.

Bert I do agree but at the moment our club is a shambles and on here everyone puts their point of view. I do agree also about peoples slander every now and then. But thing is on here we can all hide behind our posts. There are one or two that only ever come on here to minus someone's view and that upsets others as these people know who they are. Once the club starts putting in results again this will all change. Yet at the mo certain players are not worth the badge on their chest. I want what's best for Ipswich and I also will say I don't agree with some people's point of view. Freedom of speech.... All the best Bert for new year 👍

The penalty decision does sum up our season.
It was simply poor. These 2 games are simply must win.
I feel that our midfield remains the problem , unable to support the strikers or protect the defence. Im glad that proper bloke knudson has been dropped but if you also drop Chambers who are you going to bring in.Bart should come back in as he is a better all round keeper. Now that xmas has passed maybe we will stop giving away presents

What will be will be. I have every confidence that lambert given the right tools will sort this team out eventually. But what divison that will be in is looking increasingly like div 1. But no one is dying, so we build and go again tomorrow.

We can only stay in the Championship if we score goals and we don't have an adequate strike force, there is very little quality or experience, we therefore need at least two quality strikers and we need them very urgently, ie. VERY EARLY IN JANUARY, we all know that the defense is also inadequate in depth particularly at right back, I am ashamed with what Mr EVANS HAS DONE TO OUR ONCE PROUD FOOTBALL CLUB, he must address this issue now.

Absolute rubbish. Relegation Will be a disaster and with our hopeless owner could lead to league 2 or worse.
Stigma of being the longest championship club?! That's like replacing the stigma of treading in a turd with the stigma of being covered in a tractor/digger full of s.h.it

Let's hope so - I fear in league 1.

I do see what PL is saying, we are playing nice passing footy - yeah - In the middle of the park where usually we have an extra body. We have no forward creativity or invention, or that “Wahorn” player to hold the ball to buy time for mid support.

Hopefully Bishop might be that answer and a big lump with a fat arse in January please ME.

Oh, and a new RB ... Kenlock is already an improvement.

There are definite signs of improvement since Lambert arrived results aside , he just really needs to drop Spence who is a liability and costs us a goal every week and hope one of his keepers stops making absolute howlers to put us behind in games we are competing in .
Big three fixtures now to get some self belief which will decide the season
Personally would try and get Forster from Saints , see what Glen Johnson is up to to , get Joe Ledley from Derby as a starter which would add loads to our squad

Don't wait around to be get shot of Knudsen. He's been crap from Day 1. What else is Chambers going to say? Only 11 home games left & probably need to win all of them to stay up, which ain't going to happen.

Pennington needs to be dropped. And Spence.
