Bolton Game in Doubt Again Due to Stadium IT Failure
Friday, 5th Apr 2019 16:47

Town’s game at Bolton Wanderers on Saturday has again been plunged into significant doubt, this time due to an IT failure at the Trotters’ University of Bolton Stadium. An announcement on whether the match will take place is set to be made at 7.30am.

A statement from Wanderers reads: “Due to a critical failure of the stadium’s IT system, Saturday’s Sky Bet Championship match against Ipswich Town at the University of Bolton Stadium is in doubt.

“Engineers will be working through the night to resolve this issue and the club will provide an update at the earliest available opportunity.”

Town are being given regular updates, while a final decision on whether the game will go ahead is set to be made at 7.30am.

More than 1,300 Blues fans are set to make the trip with ticket prices reduced to £5 across the board, while the Town squad left for the North-West at lunchtime.

Earlier in the week the game was put in jeopardy after the Safety Advisory Group withdrew the ground's safety certificate.

However, after Wanderers' High Court hearing was adjourned until May 8th on Wednesday and the club were able to guarantee staffing levels, the Safety Advisory Group withdrew their prohibition notice and the match was given the all-clear to go ahead until the IT problems emerged earlier today leading to this afternoon's shock announcement.

I have to leave at 5:40 on the train. It's an absolute joke, I'm surprised Bolton haven't been kicked from the league as they are clearly not capable of hosting a football match. I held off on buying train tickets until the game was given the go ahead and now they've conveniently put the game in doubt again. I don't care if the players or staff haven't been paid or whatever. If the game is cancelled they WILL be reimbursing me and all of the fellow Town faithful's travel costs!
