Seven Changes for Blues Against Swansea
Monday, 22nd Apr 2019 14:23

Town boss Paul Lambert has made seven changes to his team for today’s game against Swansea City with Will Keane, Dean Gerken, Trevoh Chalobah, Gwion Edwards, Andre Dozzell, Callum Elder and James Bree all in the XI.

Gerken comes in for Bartosz Bialkowski, who drops to the bench, with Bree, one of four loan players in the team, at right-back and Elder at left-back with Josh Emmanuel and Myles Kenlock both dropping out of the squad.

Chalobah and Dozzell join Flynn Downes in central midfield with Cole Skuse and Teddy Bishop among the subs.

Up front, Keane makes his first start following his hamstring injury down the centre with Alan Judge on the left and Edwards on the right.

For Swansea, George Byers comes into the side for Barrie McKay, who drops to the bench.

Ex-Blues loanee Cameron Carter-Vickers starts for the Swans but another former Town loan player Bersant Celina misses out having been injured and ill over the last week or so.

Town: Gerken, Bree, Chambers (c), Nsiala, Elder, Chalobah, Downes, Dozzell, Edwards, Judge, Keane. Subs: Bialkowski, Skuse, Jackson, Bishop, Nydam, Quaner, Ndaba.

Swansea: Nordfeldt, Roberts, van der Hoorn (c), Carter-Vickers, Naughton, Fulton, Grimes, Routledge, Byers, James, McBurnie. Subs: Benda, Fer, Dyer, McKay, Rodon, John, Baker-Richardson. Referee: Darren England (South Yorkshire).

Lambert looking for a reaction I think. Still struggle with 4 loans in the staring line up let's get some confidence going!

what is the point of that? 4 players who won't be in the squad next week. would far rather we play bart/kenlock/emmanuel & jackson in this, the easiest game of the 3.

bringing in our own players for potential confidence-sapping games against leeds and the blades doesn't seem very sensible...

also, didn't lambert say that ndaba was going to get a start before the end of the season?

If he doesn't play the loan players at least a few times the clubs will b reticent to loan players in the future ie Elder

Correct selection in my opinion Emmanuel and Kenlock not good enough along with a few others Friday. Need a kick up the arse, can't just assume they will be in the team as they are Ipswich Boys.
Our youngsters shouldn't be treated any different.
If they ain't good enough they ain't good enough! Simple as!

Frustration / passion ,the quest for knowledge & indication of the future are quite natural : but we shall have to believe PL does know what he's doing .It would , though ,be of more than some value to know what goes on with Jonas Knudsen ; is he ‘gone ‘ ?– is he going or has he fallen out with PL . If it's the latter ,then we ought to start having some doubt about the management team thinking ,but it may be they want him off the salary books ,and maybe money in to the kitty ?
From arms length it's very challenging to understand ,but a conundrum at many clubs at this point of the season !
PATIENCE I tell myself ,but find it hard & another loss will colour my weekend BLUE .,

Lambert deserves as much criticism as the players with his shotgun selections and failure to play two up top. The kids like Emmanuel, Kenlock and Bish get scapegoated yet our joke of a skipper, player of the year gets a free pass come what may. Totally contradicting himself by playing 4 loans today when kids need a run and tbh results do not matter now for the last three games.
