Paderborn Friendly to Switch Venue for Second Time
Tuesday, 18th Jun 2019 11:50
Town’s opening pre-season friendly against newly-promoted Bundesliga side Paderborn on Saturday 6th July is set to switch venue for a second time.
The game was originally to be staged at Biekra Sportpark in Bielefeld before it was moved to the Cronsbachstadion in Steinhagen.
However, Paderborn are now looking for a third venue for the match in the Paderborn-Bielefeld area with their own home ground, the Benteler-Arena, not being used for pre-season matches.
The latest move is down to police concerns regarding security at the Cronsbachstadion with there being no way of segregating fans.
Last week Paderborn’s proposed friendly against Norwich City, which was due to be played in Geseke on July 16th, fell through but the Town game is still expected to go ahead once a new venue has been arranged.
A list of Town’s pre-season fixtures can be found here.

Sounds like they told Norwich to Farke Off! Norwich are as short as 5/6 to get relegated next season by Sky Bet. Effectively Sky think they have a 54.55% chance of going down. Meanwhile we are priced 2/1 with a lot of bookmakers to go up meaning they are predicting we have a 33.33% chance of going up. One of those two is likely to happen, more likely Norwich will go down than we go up at the first time of asking. At least according to the implied probability of the bookmaker odds. The only reason I'm saying this is I live in their backyard and they think we're never ever going to play again. 2 leagues sounds a lot but there is reasonable probability that we will only be 1 league apart come the end of next season, there is even an chance we might both be in the same league again come this time next year. Fair play to Norwich for going up, not arguing with that. They deserve a lot of credit which I'm reluctantly giving them as I watched our game against them at home and they looked pretty awful and I would of never given them a hope of going up based on what I saw that day. But whether they make the most of this opportunity and hold on to their gains remains to be seen. The bookmakers seem to think they are slightly more likely to blow it than seize it with both hands. They might of learned some lessons from their last failed effort in the top flight. But this time I get the sense they are trying to play it too safe and will try and stay up on a shoestring focusing on team unity. That's not a bad strategy to a point (but plenty others have have tried it and still come up short) but you do need to try and get a fair balance between realistic ambition (which means spending but not beyond your means) to enhance your squad but without upsetting the apple cart too much. I'm not knocking Norwich here as you have to give them credit for going up. I'm just surprised how confident a lot of them I speak to are about staying up, I really think it's a flip of a coin whether they go straight back down again or not, but most of the ones I've spoken to seem to think they will give a good account of themselves in the Premier League. They might be in for a rather rude awakening if the Bookmakers are on the money (which they often are!) but I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and reserve judgement to at least Xmas.

I think for Norwich to stay up they need to ensure Buendía stays fit and have him firing on all cylinders as he's the one that seems to give them a spark. A lot of the hype is around Pukki and understandably as he scored most the goals. But I really do seem them as struggling without Buendía as he's the one that seems to make them tick from what I've seen of them. If he gets injured I don't see anybody that can fill his boots. They have nearly all their eggs in the Buendía and Pukki basket. If those eggs get cracked and thereby either of those misses any length of time next season it's going to make their chance of staying up that much harder. It's not mission impossible for them by any means but I don't think they will be as comfortable as a lot of the ones I've spoken to in recent weeks. That said, I remember when we went up and I thought we'd struggle to stay up and subsequently we very nearly qualified for the Champions League so who knows! But I think it's safe to say Norwich will much more likely to be in an around the bottom 4 or 5 places come the end of the season than the top 4 or 5! Obviously the bookmakers let some whoppers slip through the cracks (think Leicester) but they obviously get it right more than they get it wrong if not they'd all be out of business!

PR would be a good venue. I think both Town and Norwich will be back in the Championship for the 20/21 season

Amazing that they're trying to scramble around for a venue whilst their home one is just unused. I really hope it's because of pitch being reseeded otherwise that's ridiculous.

I think Narwich will be in the premiership for four seasons.... Autumn winter spring and summer

Midas touch, BTW no one read all that 😂

Are we going to sign anyone else? Wouldn't surprise me if we don't. We need 2-3 good additions or top 2 is extremely unlikely. Not going straight back up would be a disaster
SouperJim added 15:04 - Jun 18
midastouch how do you think Norwich will get on next season?
TractorCam added 15:05 - Jun 18
Yes bluearmy, more signings on the way.
midastouch added 15:17 - Jun 18
@ SouperJim - what goes up must come down.

@Bluearmy81 fair point, a lot of the posters on here are guilty of not reading the main article let alone a turgid post of mine on the subject of the Carrot Crunchers Naaaaaaridge Pity.

They sure look happy with the switch of venue

No offence midastouch…………..
but I never understand why posters use the comments section as a forum , when there is probably one of the best football forums on this website, if you posted your Norwich views in the forum of this website you would get a lot of response and debate.
In a comments section it gets lost.
Anyway role on new season

I read them all midastouch and have deduced that you can,t make an omelette without cracking eggs.
