Rainbow Tractors Relaunches
Saturday, 22nd Jun 2019 09:12

Town's LGBTQ+ supporters group, Rainbow Tractors, are using today’s Suffolk Pride event to relaunch.

Started in 2014, Rainbow Tractors is recruiting new members ahead of the 2019/20 season with the full backing of the club, who say they are “committed to Portman Road being a safe and inclusive environment for all supporters regardless of your sexuality”.

Today’s Suffolk Pride event is the first in five years with a parade at midday starting near DanceEast and finishing outside Cult Café on Orwell Quay, where there will be a variety of live music and entertainment.

Rainbow Tractors can be contacted on email via rainbowitfc@gmail.com, Twitter at @RainbowTractors and on Facebook.

thats good positive news i personally fully support this and i am a heterosexual male, but i understand the struggles for minority groups and feel its time ipswich embraced this as well, norwich pride is a big event and a good buzz in their city, lets encourage young and people of all ages to be proud of their sexuality, despite the obvious struggles they face especially in the current political climate, where safe spaces for them are becoming even more challenging.

Q is for Questioning. This is why I avoided using names with alphabet soup letters ;) Personally I think it sounds like police interrogation.

Great to see this, I too am a hetro male but have several wonderful gay friends and know of some of the unnecessary abuse they receive. I was more than saddened to see some of the neanderthal comments on the official Facebook page of ITFC, I know the majority of fans are OK though.

My best wishes to the Rainbow Tractors.

Good to hear this. Ipswich is a community club where everyone should feel welcome and safe. Unfortunately football still attracts a few idiots fuelled by alcohol who think it's funny to make discriminatory chants. Thankfully, Portman Road is generally a thoughtful place to be.

"safe and inclusive environment for all supporters regardless of your sexuality"

Spot on! We're all supporters! Doesn't matter about all the differences like skin colour, sexuality, religious or political opinion, shapes or size, we're all ITFC supporters and that gives us all an automatic common bond of friendship.
