Jon Nolan played 45 minutes as Town’s U23s were beaten 2-1 by Hull City in their opening fixture of the season at the Roy West Centre this evening, Tyreece Simpson netting the Blues youngsters’ goal.

Keane Lewis-Potter and Tyler Hamilton put the Tigers 2-0 in front before second-year scholar Simpson pulled a goal back for Town in the 56th minute.

Town included Nolan, who started his first game of the campaign following the calf injury he suffered last season before being replaced at the break.

Also in the Blues’ line-up was trialist Quevin Castro, who was replaced by first-year scholar Liam Gibbs, making his U23s debut, for the final 11 minutes.

U23s: Wright, Cotter, Fehrenbach, Ndaba (c), T Smith, Crowe (Z Brown 67), Castro (Gibbs 79), Nolan (Scott 46), Foudil, K Brown, Simpson. Unused: Bort, Baggott.

One of Paul Curses better signings midfield is definitely the strongest area of our squad.

Yep, good player, when all fit Lambert will have difficulty picking 4 in midfield, very strong there in this league 👍
