Town: Fans Should Expect Bans for Antisocial Behaviour
Thursday, 22nd Aug 2019 18:24

Town say fans engaging in antisocial behaviour will face bans and that they are working with British Transport Police after receiving complaints in relation to incidents on the railway network following Saturday’s game at Peterborough.

As previously reported, police were called to what they described as “a large disturbance” at Peterborough station involving fans of Town, Newcastle United and Norwich City which led to seven arrests.

Earlier that week, both supporters and the club had condemned racist chanting by a small section of the Blues support at Luton.

Regarding the incidents after the Posh match, Town say they have acted on concerns raised by Town fans and members of the public.

“We are working closely with the police on a number of incidents and we will see what evidence materialises,” club secretary Stuart Hayton told the official website.

“We have said before that our fans are among the best behaved in the country and we are talking about a small minority here but there have been incidents reported to us recently that we have to act on and we will.”

A club statement added: “Any supporter showing antisocial behaviour can expect to receive a club ban, with the possibility of police taking action that could result in court proceedings and football banning orders being issued.

“Town supporters can report any incidents which make them feel uncomfortable whilst travelling to and from games by texting British Transport Police on 61016 or calling 0800 40 50 40.”

Good, let's weed them out. This element seems to be creeping back into the game a little, don't want to see a return to the 70's and 80's!

Regrettably Saxonblue I don’t believe it left us in the 90s and 00s but focus shifted to other persecuted groups.

The fact that we were away at Peterborough and Norwich were at home, but the disturbance happened at Peterborough station seems to me that Norwich fans travelled to Peterborough deliberately to goad us after their win. They may be in a better place than us at the moment but the one thing Norwich never have had , or ever will have , is CLASS.

LNWR2013 - Does that include optimism?

Yeah. Our racist chanting at Luton reeks of class.

Skip there was a train full of them by all accounts, just "normal" fans. The rail network and BTP thought it would be a good idea for a train full of Town fans and a train full of Norwich fans to end up on adjacent platforms at the same time. That was only ever going to end one way I'm afraid.

With that said, a minority of idiots not considering the consequences of their actions are painting the club in a bad light at the moment. They need to grow up a bit.
