Tykes Boss Hints Winger Could Move On
Friday, 1st Jan 2021 14:02

Barnsley boss Valerien Ismael has hinted that reported Town target Luke Thomas could move on during January.

Thomas’s opportunities have been limited with the Tykes this season and Sunderland and Oxford were recently said to be eyeing a permanent move for the ex-Derby academy youngster and earlier this week the Blues were linked with loan interest.

“We’ll have to see. We spoke to some guys, some guys are unhappy not to play more,” Ismael said when asked whether players could move on during January.

“We have to see the possibility for the guys to play, and where. Next week will be the same situation on the way in and out.”

Quizzed on Thomas’s situation, he added: “We will see. He is one player for sure that wants to play more.

“Yes, he has the quality, he’s shown the quality but he’s a young guy, he has to learn a lot. We will see what happens next week.”

Why are we constantly looking at the wrong sort of players. It's plainly obvious to anyone who's played the game we are very poor when we haven't got the ball which is why we get beaten by the better teams in this league. We should be looking at midfield players who are prepared to run and tackle for ninety minutes and stop trying to live up to this Ipswich tradition of pretty football it's not working.

This is exactly the position we need to cover. The only 1/2 decent winger we have is Edwards

His qualities, as I have already stated, are secondary to him being viable in the context of salary cap. This is probably as good as it gets for now so if we make the move then at least let's get behind the lad; it won't be his fault !

For the purposes of giving promotion a real chance ITFC need to sign a midfield player who will go into a tackle with no fear. It could be a loan until the end of the season. To me one player who has Ipswich at heart is Mark Noble of West Ham. Cannot get a regular shirt for the hammers and limited minutes from the bench, he could just be what we need if he wanted to come back for a second time. If we have serious ambitions the cost might be high for a few months but you don't know unless you ask the question.

Cheshire , we have had all positivity surgically removed from us since Evans ''saved'' ITFC, sorry if we cant match your enthusiasm and cheer joyfully at our failure at most things be it in Lge, cup or transfer windows . You and others who dance to Evans's humming are obviously happy to see standards dropping year on year since his arrival . BUT of course you are the real supporters .

With Edwards entering the last phase of his contract and is not having an option to extend , plus he was sought after by another club not so long ago , I'd say we're looking at another winger as his replacement when he leaves in the summer (Like many others ), for zilch !

ArnieM; Leaves for free in the Summer and then starts playing the best football in his career. Seems to be a theme at our club.

Already have too many wingers/attacking midfielders.

Need someone who can actually score (which his record clearly does not suggest...)

We have young wingers/wide players at the club now, so why not keep playing the lads we have already, Lankaster & Dobra than bring in someone else to take their places. Only if it's a replacement for Bennett's however long he's out for? If so it brings in a good replacement hopefully..

We may adequate numbers but they aren't exactly doing the good stuff. Bring in some attitude and arrogance to wake up our squad

How about paying up some of the contracts on our no show "Stars" in the injury room?

Then we might have some money for people who want to play football.

Sunderland and Oxford interested in making him a permanent signing but crappy Town can only offer a loan bid. Truely pathetic once again.

Betty, if the contracts of the useless sicknotes are paid off there would be less money, surely?
