Drinan Starts, Thomas on Bench as Blues Host Peterborough
Saturday, 23rd Jan 2021 14:22

Town boss Paul Lambert makes one change for this afternoon’s home game against Peterborough with Aaron Drinan replacing James Norwood up front, while new loan signing Luke Thomas is on the bench.

Norwood drops out of the 18 having felt some fatigue in his previously injured hamstring during last Saturday’s 1-0 win at Burton.

Kayden Jackson is also not in the squad having missed training earlier in the week due to thigh and hip injuries.

Thomas, who signed from Barnsley in the week, is among the subs, as is Jon Nolan, who had previously been out with a calf problem.

Town’s other new loan signing, Josh Harrop, is self-isolating having tested positive for Covid-19.

Posh make one change from the team which beat Charlton 2-1 in midweek with midfielder Reece Brown coming in for Ethan Hamilton, who is a sub.

Ipswich: Holy, Chambers (c), Nsiala, McGuinness, Ward, Dozzell, Downes, Bishop, Judge, Drinan, Edwards. Subs: Cornell, Woolfenden, Kenlock, Huws, Nolan, Thomas, Sears.

Peterborough: Pym, Butler, Thompson, Beevers (c), Kent, Taylor, Clarke-Harris, Dembele, Brown, Szmodics, Kanu. Subs: Gyollai, Eisa, Broom, Burrows, Jones, Hamilton, Mason. Referee: Antony Coggins (Oxfordshire).

It's sad when you know your team has no chance of winning or getting a draw at home to Peterborough.

Despite the injuries the only difference is Drinan coming in for Norwood. No excuses Lambert......you choose the players and tactics.

So we actually sign a right winger and Alan Judge keeps his place there, despite being very poor there last week. SAYS IT ALL!!!!

Away win for Peterborough!!

Wishing4arightback - Judge wasn't poor last week, he's been poor all season.

Surprise Surprise!

Chambers, Ward & Judge all playing still, desipte doing nothing to warrant keeping the shirt, and of course Wolfy out of the 11 still after speaking the truth. No excuses now Shambert

Why am I not bothered by the result today.

Football is dead with all the money for the prem only. So never going to get in to the Prem.

I am lucky as I watched Town in the 70s and 80s .

Must be 3 years since I watch MOTD and half of the players in the Prem I have no idea who they are.

Don't even care if the season is called off

RIP football

It's pretty sad when 95% of Town fans think we are going to lose to Peterborough at home, it's bl@@dy Peterborough for christ sake not Barcelona.
Having said that at least 6 of their players would walk into our team at present.
Town losing at half time and full time, first shot in the 73rd minute.

Why on earth would Eddie Howe come here?

The manager and owner are literally pulling our pants down! Bring in a midfield player who seriously can't be any worse IMO and he's on the bench and we keep the tried and tested same old players who lack creativity and one up front AGAIN! You've gotta laugh I suppose

Who would have thought that we would have ever predicted losing at home in the third division.

But that unfortunately is the reality in 2021.

When we have an overload of midfielders already surely bringing in another was because he is better than what we have? But no let's put another midfielder on the bench because we don't have enough of these already

@Razor you are deluded pal he turned down Derby county why the hell would he come to this sh!t show! Poor ownership no investment for 10 Years plus, selling off our best players and bringing in league one or two players sliding more towards the abyss and having to cut our wage budget MASSIVELY next season if we stay in league one. Please tell me why you think he'll come here?? It's laughable our fans even think he would entertain us tbh, maybe a few years ago yes but not anymore

Carlos, completely agree with you. I've fallen out of love with the game myself, used to be absolutely mad for it. There's been stuff that's happened in my personal life over the last couple of years which has helped put all that in perspective but it's just so far detached from the real world and it's a closed shop with regards to winning anything. Sad times.

braveblue, the only reason Eddie Howe might want to come to us is because our ground is bigger than anywhere he's managed before ie Bournemouth and Burnley and that may appeal to him 🤣

Please take Chambers off at half time & tear up his contract NOW , he's embarrassing, if wasn't for me laughing at his performance, I'd be crying

Yes Chambers is past his best but Toto is twice as bad put him in the Peterborough team and I'd fancy our chances.

Pathetic, not one player in that team I'd want to keep ! No shots on target , yet we've got so many attacking midfielders / players in our squad. BOOOOOO
