Town Down to 12th
Saturday, 13th Feb 2021 19:37

Town dropped to 12th in the third tier for the first time since 1956 following the League One games which did take place this afternoon.

The Blues’ fixture at Shrewsbury was among a number postponed but Plymouth beat Fleetwood 1-0 in their game at Home Park to jump ahead of Town, who have three games in hand on the Pilgrims, who are ninth, and Crewe in 11th. The Blues are now five points off the play-offs.

Northampton, who are at Portman Road on Tuesday, were beaten 2-0 at Sixfields by Burton Albion with the bottom-of-the-table Brewers now only two points behind the 23rd-placed Cobblers.

Town were last 12th in the third tier back during early December 1956, eventually going on to carry off the Division Three South title that season.

Will these people please stop going on about games in hand, they only have any significance if you have any chance of winning them. enough said.

For a few generations of fans...this is the lowest of the low, can we get worse? if Lambert is here in the months ahead then undoubtedly yes.

13 points off top spot, 15 points from a relegation spot. Please, let's not leave it too late.

I was born in 1962, followed Town since 1972, I hope this is as bad as it can get but I fear it is not.
Notts County were massive in the 1950's, I suspect few people under the age of 30 have even heard of them.
We beat them 0 6 in the early 80's, I was there, we were supposedly in "crisis" prior to that, though we never ran out of dry white wine in the boardroom.
Currently we are supping on Irn Bru and Tennants Super in the Board-Portakabin.

....and with Oxford, Hull, Doncaster and Accrington as 4 of our next 5. Max 3 points from the next 15 to look forward to I fear.

Those witch hunters who drove Mick out, well done.

Pointless having games in hand if we can't beat an egg

12th is a disgrace. Shambert out. On another note I see Cardiff won again and up to 7th. 5 games, 10 points and 10 goals under Mick.

McCarthy must look at the demise of our football club and piss himself laughing 😆 really he was a miracle worker! I hope that the supporters that hounded him out are working just as hard to get shot of this clown 🤡

Dukey, i care about Mick as I wanted him to stay as it was obvious he was doing a good job with the poor hand he was given. He stood up to the bullies, who hounded him out. They are as much to blame as Evans for the free fall the club is in.

If we had kept with MM, we'd still be in the Championship. But mid-table Championship was unacceptable to many so he had to go, I was gutted when he left.

Now we are mid-table again, but in the division below.

The games in hand provide some optimism, the goal difference provides the reality check.Ipswich may/may not make the play offs but have no chance of winning promotion until they score far more goals. The loans were a huge mistake as it's time to have faith in your youth and use the season to give them experience.Lambert is out of his depth and needs to go.Evans needs to take a step back and bring in a Football Director who knows the game.Keep the same way of working and it'll be a relegation fight next season.MM & TC are doing great at Cardiff and i was sorry to see him go but he's not coming back and time to stop the should've,could've,would've debate.

Evans has more ability and know-how to redevelop Portman Road into luxury flats than get us into the Championship.

Don't trust a ticket tout.

Firstly its clearly not good enough. Lambert has not improved us at all in the couple of years hes been here. We seem lost as a club.

But secondly to those who STILL bang on about Mick. Yes the first few seasons were great and we looked back on track, but do you not remember the dreadful humbling by Lincoln City in the cup live on TV? Or the dull home games where our first shot was on 80 minutes? Or the hammering at home by Hull 3-0 where we looked a dreadful shambles. Yes he did well but please stop with the selective memories. His time was up here. We were in relegation form when he left.

And it's where we'll stay if the current regime stays in place. The club is rotting from the inside. Review and renew NOW! This club has been in my blood since 1968 and I'm feeling betrayed. Our once great family/community club is being used as a business, wheres the football gone. I.T.I.D!

Saxonblue...what's that got to do with anything? His time was sadly up here. Our owner has made more wrong decisions.

Were you happy being humbled by non league Lincoln in the cup live on TV? If you were then you have very low standards. He should have gone after that disgrace.

Mick left years ago. Stop banging on about him. He got us in the playoffs..yeah that was great. But we would of gone down eventually. We were heading south under Mick. It was inevitable. And it's the owners fault. Not the fans.

Plenty of good points on here and the usual MM fan club. The guy was done, end of. The trouble starts at the top, the very top. One man, out of his depth from the start, running the club like a fiefdom, with an insider mouthpiece and just two Directors we never see or hear from. Lowest league placing since 1956, with squad of 30, in Lge 1.,and we get excited about three loanees, two of whom are under 20. Gates of 19/20K.Fans mouthing off obscenities at players, players hitting back, fans slagging each other off. Jounnos being banned. Our Club used to be a class act, respected in the game and the media. Now a toxic shambles. I fear the worst, the very worst. Tragic, absolutely tragic.

Totally agree Atty, why do everyone keep harping on about MM . A totally ignorant man who I for one am glad he is not here representing Ipswich town regardless of where we are. or in his words to his own supporters F-- off.
