New Home Kit Launched
Thursday, 3rd Jun 2021 12:19

Town have launched the new home kit for the 2021/22 season which features black pin stripes on the shirt and a return to white shorts.

The adidas-produced shirt has the three stripes on the shoulder but not down the sleeve and a round neck. There is also a return to the modern badge after the pre-1995 version was used in 2020/21, the 40th anniversary of the UEFA Cup win.

The shirt also bears Ed Sheeran’s sponsorship logo relating to his upcoming tour on the front and as in 2021/21, a thank-you to the NHS on the back.

Supporters will again be given the opportunity to add that to their replica shirts for £3.50, £8,000 having been raised for the Colchester & Ipswich Hospitals Charity in 2020/21.

NHS staff from Ipswich Hospital joined Town first-team players and members of the ITFC Women’s team for the launch photoshoot.

“Once again we thank Ipswich Town and their fans for their ongoing support. The monies raised by fans so far have been used to purchase comfortable seating for a brand new staff rest space away from the wards which we are delighted to be opening in June,” Nick Hulme, chief executive of East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust, which runs Ipswich and Colchester hospitals, told the club site.

“The opportunity for healthcare workers to be involved in the official photoshoot was very well received and we know the club will be supported by many of our colleagues when the new season kicks off in August.”

Town wore blue shorts in 2020/21, also in tribute to the strip worn in the UEFA Cup final in 1981, but the new kit reverts to the more traditional white shorts.

The shirt is now available for pre-order in Planet Blue and online at www.itfcshop.com and will be dispatched from the end of June.

Those who pre-order will be notified when their order has been dispatched or is ready to collect if they have chosen to click and collect from Planet Blue.

Supporters wishing to use their remaining season ticket refund vouchers (from 2019/20 season) can pre-order the shirt in store at Planet Blue. "
The new away kit, which is believed to be white, is to be launched later in the month.

Just way too much like the 2019-20 shirt for me. Although I prefer Town in an all blue shirt, I feel certain we would be returning to the white sleeves this year, in a way to feel like a clean start from the last two terrible seasons* wearing an all blue shirt and as a nod to the 61-62 winning team 60 years ago.

*I appreciate the previous two season wearing white sleeves were dire as well.

Underwhelmed! A terrible marketing video, an awful soundtrack and an average shirt!! Really surprised that the much hyped new executive management team allowed the launched in this format.

Judging by the comments on here the new kit has some pluses and minuses and it's certainly divided opinion!

How can so many people be ‘underwhelmed' by this. We are Ipswich Town, always been blue and hopefully always will be blue. We don't need jazzed up shirts. No doubt some would be happy with blue and white zebra stripes a la Man U, but each to their own. All our greatest triumphs have been in a standard blue shirt with minor cosmetic trimmings. Proud to be Town supporter and proud to be our traditional blue.
Maybe some day if we all wait long enough we will get a news item on this wonderful site where absolutely no one moans but I am not holding my breath. Just wait until the new signings are announced.......negativity???....you ain't seen nuthin yet.

Like the kit, and the logo, pity Ed didn't supply the backing track, would have been a nice touch.

A good solid choice. Similar though to two years ago..

In a way I am very much up there with the understated approach on the home shirt, and thankful we didn't get an explosion in a “paint” factory type of kit - so will settle for this.

However, like a previous poster I really thought we were likely to have a kit tribute to the 1961/62 - 60 years winning side, so from that perspective I am disappointed.

I personally would like us like Arsenal or Ajax to have a consistent and clearer identity in our home kit. Not that I dislike the blue shorts, but I would prefer our overall kit to contain more white with the blue and for shirts to retain white sleeves year on year, rather than flirt between either from time to to time.

Picture with Dozzell is brilliant. That's exactly how he holds his hands when trying to pull back a players shirt after he's been beaten to the ball.

Yes Andre looks great in the video. Should have been a male model not a footballer.

very similar to 2015 play off kit which was a really good one for me this is pretty good shame last years kit was the best thing about the whole season. still would like the stars removed they look a bit naff imagine if liverpool utd chelsea arsenal etc had stars on their shirts for trophies won the shirt would be covered, stars look good when its to recognise a world cup win otherwise leave them on your converese all stars.

I am waiting to see the 2nd kit. I hope with Ed sponsoring it is ginger in colour. I thought the pin stripes were supposed to be dark blue not black??
