Fans can get their free tickets from 10am today until kick-off on the day of the match, the Blues’ first fixture in the competition this season.

Full details and a step-by-step guide to the process of redeeming tickets are on the club website.

Town also play Gillingham away and Colchester United at home in their Papa John's Trophy group.

Colchester at home will be more attractive if the old guard are playing.

I suggest anyone with this option take the ticket for this game. Judging by our form this season, there won't be many cup games in our future.

Stingy from the club and sounds like something Evans would have done. Could've at least given a free ticket for Carabao or FA Cup game. This pizza trophy competition is a nonsense.

The early rounds are not normally ideal competitive matches but after our poor run it actually gives us a much needed opportunity to play the back five together at least and to get Morsy some game time with Evans… rest Harper and fit Carroll in too as a 3 in centre midfield..
Crucially we need to build confidence and positional awareness and get a win.
May as well give Barry and Aluko another run out on the wings and Pigott up front. We have no problems with Bonne and Burns…
We have seven key players ( most could be if fit) out of League action Norwood, Nsiala, Nolan, Edwards, Fraser, Celina and Morsy… that's a lot of talent.

Reminder: the fact the Premier League Showbiz clubs are playing in this trophy was simply a sop to stop them getting what they really wanted: to put B-teams in Leagues One and Two. They have already admitted several young players have been denied to lower league clubs on loan just to play in this "cup".

So if you support this competition then that's the next step - the money brands stealing any of our good young players, and us being forced to play Man City B and Norwich C in the future (I'd say within 5 years even). Gutted, as in years past when we were flirting with relegation like 2012 this trophy was something I had seen as a potential perk of getting relegated. But now it's close to the death knell of the most diverse and exciting football league in the world that I grew up with.
