Ainsworth: I've No Idea What to Expect From Town
Thursday, 23rd Dec 2021 19:20

Wycombe Wanderers boss Gareth Ainsworth admits he doesn’t know what to expect from the Blues when the Chairboys visit Suffolk next Wednesday.

The game is both sides' next fixture with their Boxing Day matches - at Gillingham in Town’s case and at home to Cambridge for Wycombe - postponed due to Covid cases in their opposition's squads.

New Town boss Kieran McKenna will be taking charge of the Blues for the first time against the Chairboys and as such Ainsworth says he’s not sure what to expect.

“We have no idea what's coming," he told the Wycombe official website. "They've got a new manager who's highly regarded in football circles, so it's very up in the air how they're going to play. But we'll be working on what we're good at.

“These are some fantastic fixtures coming up and we want them to go ahead because we'll be well up for them.”

Wycombe, who the Blues beat 4-1 at Adams Park at the start of November, are fourth in League One, seven places and 13 points ahead of Town.

Will be tough second time round. They were better than us for most of the last game.

Daviol - They were on top for about 15-20 mins of that game. After that they just looked shell shocked. Let's not try to rewrite history, that was a great performance. There haven't been enough of those this season but let's not try to talk down the ones we have seen.

No one wants this cancelled, esp after missing out on Boxing Day football......aaargh !

However, if there was ever a good time (and there is not) then a new manager, who has a clear idea of how to coach, needs every minute of every day to get his message into a team that can best be described as looking like they have not had a plan for a couple of months. Ideally this does not come too soon as am looking forward to the game for the new boss, and who knows......ITFC......new manager bounce ? It has to happen one day !

It was a brilliant display at Wycombe like our season reached a peak went down hill after that. Wycombe will be really up for this game we will have to be at our very best much tougher than the Sunderland game especially physically.

If Burns plays we have a chance, only midfield player that can create chances apart from Aluko

The team I think Kieran will go with:
Walton, Vincent-Young, Penny, Woolfenden, Edmundsen, Morsy, Evans, Burns, Celina or Edwards, Bonne and Norwood
subs: Hladky, Carroll, Pigott, Harper, Burgess, Chaplin, El Mizouni

About all we ca hope for is improvement. Going to be interesting to see who comes and goes in January as we really need some pace and strength in midfield as we just are not up to it at the moment .All of the so called class players we signed have not produced sweet FA so far so change is needed.

This time last season we had 37 points from 18 games that would have been nice this season
