Fraser Again Linked With Swans But No Approach Made to Town
Tuesday, 25th Jan 2022 13:11

Blues midfielder Scott Fraser is again being linked with Swansea City, who are managed by his former MK Dons boss Russell Martin, however, we understand no approach has been made to Town.

Claims that Fraser was interesting the Swans first emerged in early December and according today’s Scottish Daily Express the Welsh club are ready to make a six-figure offer for the 26-year-old Scot.

TWTD understands the Blues are yet to receive any contact from the Championship club regarding Fraser, who has made 17 starts and two sub appearances, scoring once, since signing from the Dons in the summer.

The former Dundee United, Airdrieonians and Burton Albion schemer was unavailable for Saturday’s squad as Town defeated Accrington Stanley 2-1 at Portman Road due to a minor knee injury.

Fraser is yet to feature under new manager Kieran McKenna but was on the bench for his opening game at home to Wycombe Wanderers.

Technically a good footballer but might struggle physically in the championship. The squad is unbalanced at the moment with too many lightweight ball players. If we moved him on it would allow us to get a strong defensive midfield player to sit just in front of the back four or three and then we wouldn't concede goals like we did against Accrington.

Yep agree. Personally not seen anything from Fraser that makes me want him to stay. Good luck to him if he moves on.

He's performed well in league one so I suspect it was down to how he was used and the positional and starting line up merry go round under the previous boss that we've not really seen that kind of form. However if it meant strengthening a position of more need I'd not be distraught if he went as long as it frees up wages and we got a good fee. He's clearly physical enough for the championship LinkBoy is he can do it in league one.

I struggle to see, if and when we have a full and available squad, where Fraser fits in to our system. He has been rather un-inspiring since he joined and the games I've seen play tends to slow and then break down through him. Shame for the lad but I think a move away for him would be best for all parties

If we had to sell anyone I wouldn't have any qualms if it was Fraser. He was the player I was most excited about signing in the summer but he hasn't done anything to suggest he's above this level or good enough to play Championship.

Downes and Fraser aounda like a decent CM combination.

I hope Fraser and Pigott are given at least until the end of the season to show their undeniable talent.

I guess if we get the money back then nothing lost and noting gained.

Undoubtedly quality on the ball but I would say looks lightweight, slowish and unfit from what I've seen but Martin obviously knows him well. Will be interested to see how K McK plays this.

Never seen him at his best. Sadly he came with a good penalty record, yet his first opportunity was the crucial miss at Burton

Everything is at double QuickTime under Ashton isn't it . Get em , shift em out . No time to settle . Have to hit the ground running …, or out from the manager level down to the players it seems .

Would like see him in the side as gives us something different but suspect the lure of working for his old boss may swing this. Not to our detriment though and I am sure ashton will take care of this.

Given that no approach has been made to theClub, it would be interesting to know what that phrase “linked with” means in practice.

The cynic in me thinks that it means that Scott Fraser's agent bought Phil a couple of pints in the pub.

Ye that penalty at Burton was from someone with little confidence. You can tell Fraser is very good but like a lot of footballers, there is a club suited to you out there

Don't forget that this article says there have been no approach thus far. I personally think he is probably surplus to requirements in wage terms. But he deserves a proper chance to prove himself.

Really has not delivered for us move him on too lightweight.

ThaiBlue… he wasn't too lightweight at MK Dons to be effective. You do need a bit more muscle at league one level but not every player needs to be a nightclub bouncer. I wouldn't write him off but we have got an embarrassment of riches in the attacking midfielder roles. If Harper and El Miz do go on loan however we'd need him as he can play in the centre or as one of the three behind the strikers.
