Burns PFA League One Player of the Month
Monday, 14th Feb 2022 12:14

Town wing-back Wes Burns has been named the FA Vertu Motors Fans' Player of the Month in League One for January, Blues striker James Norwood having picked up the same award in December.

Burns scored four times in five games as the Welshman got his 2022 off to an impressive start.

The other nominees were former Blues striker Will Keane, now with Wigan Athletic, Morecambe’s Cole Stockton, Ross Stewart from Sunderland, Oxford’s Cameron Brannagan and Daniel Jebbison of Burton Albion.

Typical. We release Will Keane, he joins one of our promotion rivals and this season has scored 14 goals in 24 appearances! Why couldn't he do it here?

Yes very good player but more importantly he always gives one hundred percent. As for Norwood he's gone from player of the month to pratt of the month perhaps it went to his head.

@Ipswichbusiness - Probably because we were still in the Championship then & standards higher (other teams, not ours!). Maybe he's found his level now.

He also played in league one for us and had his injury problems but still couldn't make an impact. League table doesn't lie maybe he's getting better service at Wigan seems strange that he's been injury free though.

Well done Wes - let's hope it's not the kiss of death to your form .... Norwood seems to have gone off the boil since his award.

Brilliant player, if we don't go up we'll lose him and he deserves to be playing at a higher level.
Regarding Will Keane, look at his historical stats he'd scored virtually no goals until this season, that's just the way it can go sometimes. I had no problems with letting him go and still don't, the fact that Wigan's system suits him this season and he's scoring is great to see, good luck to the lad it's just nice to see people doing well.

Well deserved and probably our best signing alongside Walton. Morsy and Chaplin not far behind.
Burns gives us speed, creativity and intelligence. He and Donacien are a great partnership.

The way it's going in February, Walton could be player of the month

Absolutely so well deserved-----without him and Chapps we would be nowhere with our current crop of strikers who are to put it bluntly just not doing the job.

On strikers Phil is there a problem with Simpson and why heis not getting on the pitch---rumours and stories of contracts and agents?

Yes would like to see Simpson on the bench. But McKenna and his coaching staff have seen him at close quarters and i respect their opinions.
