Ndaba Joins Burton On Loan
Friday, 19th Aug 2022 15:23

Blues central defender Corrie Ndaba has joined League One Burton Albion on a season-long loan, TWTD having revealed the Brewers’ interest in the 22-year-old earlier this month.

The Dubliner spent last season on loan with Salford in League Two before returning and spending pre-season with the Town first team and signing a new contract which runs to the summer of 2025.

Richard Keogh’s recent recruitment from Blackpool has allowed the Blues to send Ndaba out for another spell during which he will gain further senior experience.

“He's a defender that fits the criteria - he will fit in like a house for us," Burton manager Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink told his club's official website.

“He has a lot of good attributes and we're grateful to Ipswich for allowing us to have him on loan.”

Ndaba added: “I'm delighted to be here, ready to go and I'm excited for the new challenge.

“The main thing is getting games and experience in this league. A few clubs were interested but when I spoke to the gaffer here, it just felt right.

“What he expects from a player and a person corresponds with me as a person - so as I say, I'm really excited for the challenge ahead!”

The former Republic of Ireland U21 call-up could make his debut for the Brewers, who Town beat 1-0 on Tuesday, when they take on Port Vale at home.

We understand Scottish Premiership Kilmarnock and League One Fleetwood also showed interest in the left-sided defender.

Maybe a couple of their first half misses on Tuesday were part of the deal?

I hope he gets plenty of game time at Burton otherwise what's the point? Also a shame he won't be working with and learning from Keogh.

All in all I'm not convinced.

Good that he's gone to a lge1 team. Will give him the experience at this level. But not sure burton is the best option taking into account their style of play. Or lack of it, should I say. But should still help him from a defensive point of view. Just maybe not from the possession side of the game.

Torn on this. If Corrie was not ours he is exactly the sort of player we might have signed and given a chance in the 1st Team. Am prepared to trust the process and reserve judgement, but there have been some fine words spoken about pathway for our better youngsters and at some point (soon) we need to see some evidence.

I really think Corrie will be future big player us. He's left footed, quick and comfortable on the ball. Just hope they play him at centre back on a regular basis.

Mind you I do have to laugh when they talk about going out on loan for experience at 22. Burley Beattie, Mills, Brazil and Wark were all in their teens when they hit Bobby Robson's first Team and the rest is history.

It seems that nowadays you have to be oven ready before you can claim a first team shirt!!!

After witnessing Albion on Tuesday night and their style of play, cannot help thinking Fleetwood may have been a better option? Time will tell!

Unfortunately we are not producing outstanding youngsters like we did in the Bobby Robson era most of them went on to play for their countries. Even in sub standard league one we only produce decent youngsters and some of them go out on loan to non league clubs. Questions have to be asked are we getting any benefits from having an academy. Brentford in the premier league don't have an academy and they are doing ok. Personally i find watching the u18s and u21s very entertaining but we seem to produce good teams at both levels without producing outstanding youngsters.

Terryf. You cannot compare todays football to the bobby robson era when it comes to how young players get their experience. In those days all teams put youngsters into the 1st team early. There are very few players anywhere, where that happens nowadays. Only have to look at chelsea, for example, who have over 30 players, mainly youngsters out on loan. As far as ndaba is concerned, he's 5th in line for a place in the team, so makes perfect sense for him to go on loan.

Linkboy13. Of course it's worth having an academy. Don't know if uve been watching the programme on TV about Crystal palaces academy but they said on there, that they'll only get a very few who actually make it there. It's just the way it is. Doesn't mean those players won't have a career, just not there. Think it's pretty much the same at every academy. How many players have the likes of Liverpool, man utd, Chelsea, for example, have come through in recent years? Certainly not as many as in the past. The issue with us has very much been thatcyoungsters have shown enough promise to get themselves in reach of the 1st team but not made thst final step. The ones that have, have all gone out on loan before getting themselves more established here
