Penney Enjoying Spell With Motherwell Sunday, 13th Nov 2022 12:05 On-loan Blues left-back Matt Penney is delighted with how his loan spell in the Scottish Premiership with Motherwell is progressing but wouldn’t be drawn on whether he'll be extending his stay in January. The 24-year-old moved to Fir Park on a half-season loan in August and has now made 13 starts with the Steelmen ninth in the table. “I'm delighted with how it has been going. Every boy wants to play football,” the former Sheffield Wednesday man told the Daily Record. “Getting a run of games is something I've not really had for a while so I'm loving it. “I'm loving working with the manager [Steven Hammell], his ideas, his philosophy. Results haven't gone our way but I'm enjoying playing week in, week out and long may it continue. “The fans have been great with me, but I'll need to see what happens. All I can focus on is my football and whatever may be, will be. I'm enjoying it up here. “VAR and the officials, I need to bite my tongue on some stuff. Very questionable, that's all I can say. But, in general, I'm enjoying it and playing every week is great.” Quizzed on whether he’ll be considering an extension of his stay when the Scottish Premiership goes into a five-week break for the World Cup, he added: “It doesn't [come into my thinking], no. If I'm honest, I just focus on training, playing on a matchday, doing the best I can do. “Whatever comes with that in January, comes with it. I'll just keep helping the boys on the pitch.”
