Luongo, Edmundson and Broadhead to Be Assessed
Monday, 13th Feb 2023 19:27

Massimo Luongo, George Edmundson and Nathan Broadhead will be assessed ahead of Tuesday’s game at Bristol Rovers, the former pair having missed Saturday’s draw with Sheffield Wednesday, while the former Everton man was substituted with cramp in the second half.

The Blues, who will be playing their fourth game in 11 days, travelled west today ahead of the match against the 14th-placed Pirates.

“It’s a quick turnaround so we need to do everything we can with the recovery and we’ll make some assessments today,” McKenna told iFollow Ipswich, speaking this morning.

“Massimo and George Edmundson weren’t quite right for Saturday, so we’ll have to see how they are over the next 24 hours to see whether they’re going to make this one or not.

“Apart from that, we’ve got a few little issues after Saturday. Nathan went off with a cramp as well.

“We’ll have to make the assessments over the next 24 hours and give the players as much time as we can and make the final decisions on Tuesday for this one.”

Lee Evans is again set to miss out with the knee injury he suffered in the 1-1 draw at Cambridge.

Is Luongo turning out to be a bit of a Sick note ?

Looks like it Arnie. We'll probably see him as many times as we have Camara and Ball this season.

Out of those three, I reckon Camara will be the one that we keep and see his real
Worth - next season!

Annie; remember that Luongo is only on contract to the end of the season so we can get rid of him quite quickly if he does turn out to be a sick note. This is one of the problems of signing players during the winter window.

I wouldn't hold your breath on Camara Arnie M he's already had three operations on the same injury which is never a good sign. Luongo never even appeared on the bench at Middlesborough which i found very suspicious. Ball by all reports was quite well liked at QPR and i was expecting him to be one of our best players this season but he has never been fully fit. You never know we might see a midfield of Camara, Ball and Luongo next season whoops their goes another flying pig.

Hmmm didn't realise Camara had had 3 hip operations. Mind you Norwood had 2 didn't he?! Sometimes if they are getting hip impingement it takes operations to sort it out. But still not good he's already had 3… thanks for that info 👍

If Broadhead sent fit that's a concern. It would be the second game he misses through injury already! Sunderland fans did say he was good when he played. Missed a lot though.

Interesting comments, 16 games to go and plenty of time for these guys to make an impact. Camara's third op was on a different area, better to get him properly right rather than rush him. Broadhead's cramp is less of an issue, even if the boss rotates him out tonight cramp isnt a long term issue so its just a question of whether he's "ITFC fit", which is a higher standard than other clubs. If Luonga is being assessed and Ball in closing in those guys cant be too bad either so trust the boss not to make too many chances. We have a big squad, plenty of quality why risk players with so much football to play.

Yes ArnieM Camara he had one operation at Plymouth and now two with us which is probably why Plymouth were eager to get rid of him bearing in mind he was one of their best players. Now there saying Broadhead is having injury problems come on Ashton sort it out this is becoming all too frequent now.

Luongo and Morsy together would add some bit to midfield. We'll have to see...
