Sheffield Wednesday are reportedly keen on a loan move for Blues midfielder Panutche Camara.

A week ago, Town manager Kieran McKenna revealed that the Guinea-Bissau international, who endured a frustrating, injury-hit 2022/23 following his £500,000 move from Plymouth, is set to leave the club on loan during the close season.

“Panutche, we spoke to in the summer,” he said. “We think as a football club it's going to be best for him to go on loan this season to get minutes having missed minutes last year. The first half of last season with injury but then in the second half of the season with other players coming in and doing really well.

“He's been training really well, is a top professional, is training really well but we have spoken to him earlier in the summer about going on loan this season, so he's in communication, we've had communication from some different clubs. That process is ongoing at the moment.”

Now, according to BBC Sheffield, the 26-year-old is interesting the Owls, who joined the Blues in the Championship via the play-offs.

Previous links with League One Portsmouth were dismissed by Pompey manager John Mousinho.

Would be pointless sitting on the bench there. League one or two club would be more beneficial where he's got more chance of game time.

blues1 added 16:21 - Jul 14 Linkboy13. Pretty sure he'd get game time there. And in fact, suspect we'd only let him go somewhere he would. Otherwise there's no point him going. Mckenna is letting him go bcse of the number of midfielders we have, shich wouldakexit unlikely he'd play as much here, as he probably would elsewhere. Personally tho, I wouldn't let him go there. Never a good idea to send a player to a team who are likely to rival us for position in the table.

As per previous posters, this would be a good move for him to be playing at championship level with a January snatch back clause. If he's awesome or we get injuries we can bring him home or move him elsewhere if it's not working out.

1Warky added 19:14 - Jul 14 Plenty of pre-season games ahead but it sounds like McK needs to see a run of games from him to be convinced for the future. He was one of the outstanding lg1 midfielders at Plymouth and it was an unlucky injury that deprived us of seeing that rather than bad play when fully fit. Still believe there's a class player there for us and he's ahead of a couple of our other mf's re the future. Trust them to make the right call and if he goes on loan, hope it's where he's playing every week rather than warming the bench.

SickParrot added 20:11 - Jul 14 At his best he would be a big asset, so I would like us to use the pre season friendlies to gauge his fitness, and see how influential he is, before any decision is made about a loan move. I get that he probably needs to play regularly to get back to his best and that he might start more games at Wednesday, but we would look very foolish if he was outstanding from the off there!

mrmorisato added 21:00 - Jul 14 I have mixed feelings about this.....He's now become injury prone and who knows how many games he'll be able to play and finish....on the other hand we're letting a quality player play at a rival with finances that will enable them to mount a promotion challenge this season. McK is surely making a calculated gamble?!? I would insert a re-call clause for sure! :)

Jugsy added 15:10 - Jul 17 Controversial statement potentially, but I don't think he fits the dressing room. You could see he was a great football at Plymouth, but he was always mouthing off at the ref and coming across as he was hard done by. He's a player who strives to do well, but doing well for himself. In his interviews he talks about pushing myself and getting to the top - he doesn't talk about it in terms of getting to the top with his club. When you listen to Chappers, he talks about succeeding as a team. That's a strong dynamic and only certain players will plug. My feeling is Camara doesn't fit that and will likely be better off elsewhere.
