Town Hutchinson Offer Expected - Report
Monday, 24th Jun 2024 14:20

The Blues are reported to be ready to make an official offer to Chelsea for last season’s loan star Omari Hutchinson.

According to football.london, the 20-year-old, who is currently training individually overseas ahead of pre-season training, is yet to make a decision on his future but with a permanent move away from Stamford Bridge an option.

Town have made no secret of their desire to bring the Jamaica international back to Portman Road after his major contribution towards the Blues’ promotion to the Premier League last season and are said to be the current frontrunners.

It’s claimed a Town bid is now expected with Chelsea understood to want a fee of around £30 million with his former club Arsenal due a chunk of the figure they ultimately receive via a sell-on clause.

The Blues are unlikely to be looking at paying that sort of sum for any individual player this summer and are believed to be ready to offer around £20 million initially.

VfB Stuttgart and Ajax have previously been linked and are reportedly still keen, although their interest believed to have cooled latterly.

So many on here, simply don't seem to realise the way the transfer market is nowadays. Don't disagree that £30m is a high price for him, but if we really want him, we may have to pay it. Or simply looked elsewhere for some1 as good as hum but cheaper. Whether that's possible tho, who knows.

Wonder if we could get Glynn Downes back. Southampton did not play well when he was injured and out of the team

Wow! Go back a couple of seasons and who’d have thought we’d be linked with a £30m rated player. £300,000 maybe!

Ps. Great impact that Omari made last year there’s no way on God’s Earth at 20 without a Premier League pedigree he’s worth £30m today. Half that and some top up fees and a sell on clause maybe. Let’s see!

This West Ham lad that we appear to be close to signing, not a left back is he?
I.e Leif + cash = Omari
Johnson coming in as a replacement

westsussexblue. Glenn Johnson is a right back, or better as right wing back, that can play left back too, or part of a back 3 or even in midfield. He wants a £70k wage per week, hence West Ham have only ever offered £50k max over 5 years with 10% per season rise. He ain't that Harry Clarke upgrade at all. Greaves at Hull is a must. Being a Hammer/ITFC supporter/season ticket holder. Ipswich need a Ross Barkley, Hutchinson (Max £15 million), Ogbonna (Yes 35, but free with 9 years prem ch experience), Ryan Fredricks is a free RB, Bobby Reid (Fulham), free right winger. Ryan Sessegnon also free.

30 million is pie in the sky. Not even yet proven at Premiership. 15 million + addons is probably about right.

Dealing with Chelsea won't be easy the way they through money about...£30M seems a bit steep considering he's not played in the Premiership (But yes the potential is there).

I can't see Ashton or the club being held to ransom over this, 30 mill n my book is too much despite his obvious skillset.

We won't be paying £30m
Chelski want to sell,
£20m with add on's will secure I reckon

Also that bloody headline, I keep reading offer accepted!

I’m sure MA can work out a good deal. Maybe a big discount with add-ons with Chelsea getting first refusal with a similar discount.

Chelsea clearly leaking info in the hope of starting an auction. We've waited until the FFP deadline so as to benefit from Chelsea's need to get their financial in order - so we have a stronger hand to play.

We can also make some signings pre-1st July and then others post 1st July to benefit from the 2 FFP Windows (2023/24 & 2024/25) - would expect at least one big signing to drop before the end of the weekend.

It is not really about the price. Omari will be worth more in a couple of years, and still a lot even if discounted by a relegation. It's about spreading the payments and securing a long contract, probably with a get-out clause at nearly the price we pay. He is one of the least risky big investments we can make (after Kieran).

I'd rather splash out on Omari, than on a high fee high wage foreign import. We know what we're getting with Hutchinson. These oversees players may take months to bed in. Big risk spending big on the Greek guy for example.

With all the players we are signing (according to agent leaks) that is £100m spent already.
