Philogene 'Set to Rejoin Villa'
Friday, 12th Jul 2024 15:53

Hull City winger Jaden Philogene is now reportedly set to rejoin his former club Aston Villa.

The Blues had agreed a joint-deal for Philogene and teammate Jacob Greaves with the Philogene side of the deal understood to be worth £18 million of an overall initial fee of £35-£40 million with the players understood to have accepted personal terms at Portman Road.

Villa, who sold the England U21 international to the Tigers last summer, had 72 hours in which to exercise matching rights, which they did on Wednesday.

And now, according to The Mirror and other sources, Villa boss Unai Emery has given the green light to complete a move for the 22-year-old.

The fee is understood to be £13 million with Villa having had a 30 per cent sell-on from the deal done last summer. The player is set to sign a five-year contract.

Philogene is currently with Hull at a training camp in Türkiye but is expected at Villa’s Bodymoor Heath training centre next week.

Town are close to announcing the additions of Greaves, in a £15 million plus £3 million in add-ons deal, and Manchester City striker Liam Delap, whose initial fee is also understood to be £15 million plus a further £5 million.

Could never trust that crook of an agent, after checking this site hundreds of times over tge past week at least we can now move on. It's wasted time we can ill afford for MA and KMCK...prob not the players fault. I still say that agent needs investigating for fraud.
Sorry fellow town fans but this whole saga has been a joke.

On another note I wonder what thoughts would be if 3 maths ago we were told one wish would come true, Town promotion or England winning Euros!

Just want to point out that the source of this story is The Mirror, which is just a slightly more left wing brand of toilet paper compared to The Sun or the Daily Mail.

He might come to us or he might leave but this story is based on nothing more than have a couple of backpage column inches to fill

Mr 10%+ has turned another young players head i wonder how long he'd been in Villas ear?
Oh well we move onwards and upwards be interesting to see the welcome he gets at Portman road while warming the bench(if he gets that near the squad)

Has anyone thought that Villa may buy him back for 12 million (basically 7 million as they got 5 million for him from Hull last year) and then sell him straight straight to Town for £18 million making an 11 million profit that's good business from Villa if they did that. Just a thought!

Not as dramatic, but when we was trying to get Ellis Simms he ended up at Cov and look what happened, glad we never got him in the end and this could turn out equally as similar. Good luck to the lad for sure, but at least we can move on now.

In fairness since Ashton took the reins he appears to have kept his deals secret until unveiling the player in an Ipswich shirt.
That would continue to be ideal .but we now have to unwillingly accept the world of Premier League Footballs antics , the almost unintelligible contracts that exist, the might ( or deceit) of “ Fleets Streets” finest and agents unwavering greed and social media’s never ending sh*thousery.
Much of that exists beyond what the actual footballer really wants , ie to be a competitive player in the club he chooses.

Sadly, symptomatic of the modern game. Never convinced that he was busting a gut to come here; neither any of his other suitors. AV have given him - and his grasping agent - a more preferable option, which he’s taken. Good - waste no more time or effort; time will tell whether he’s made the right call. Move on, don’t look back. COYB!

I doubt this is the end of the story.

Calm down Churchmans - it was a sensible question liked by many but it sounds like you have regularly got a grip of yourself.

Maybe we can get him on a loan as can’t see him as a regular starter

I wish him well. I hope Villa look after him and don’t just loan him out to a Championship club. Oh well I’m sure there are plenty more on our list.

Desire to be here questionable earlier, so should have pulled out then. Can’t be seen to be desperate or weak.

This may not be Jayden. We will see what happens. It maybe posturing by Villa trying to boost their income. As long as town don't bid more they will end up with a talented player, but probably an unhappy one. What they are probably angling for is to get town to bid more to increase their 30%. I think we move on and wait until we see whether the deal falls through on personal terms... or not.

And her comes the flood of anger and slagging him off… it’s like listening to school kids….. “ good, I never liked you anyway”.
I’m going to wait until there are facts but if he’s signing for Villa, why not assume he’s got offered a more regular place in the side, champions league football and possibly a higher salary? He’s not an Ipswich fan, In fact has never even played for us. I trust we have suitable alternatives ear marked. I’m a little confused as to why he’d be staying in Turkey until next week… who knows, maybe this news is as reliable as the “he wants to come to Ipswich” ones?

Sad its turned out this way as I guess without Aston Villa's intervention he'd be coming here. Obviously familiar with the setup and a well established Premier League Team, but will be interesting how much game time he gets at Villa.
I have no doubt that KM and MA have other candidates in the pipeline so lets see what gems they pull out of the hat! They've not done too bad so far. Hutchinson, Johnson, Greaves and Delap are great additions.
Reckon another 3 maybe 4 coming in and we'll be done.

Villa fan I know said he activated a release clause to leave for only £5M to Hull & Villa & fans didn't want him to leave. He wasn't getting game time as much as he wanted. So we triggered a buy back for Villa to swoop back in to buy him & they've taken him back on a much better deal now he's proven himself at Hull. Seems Philogene has played us all, so not too unhappy if he does end up back at Villa for them to sleep on the bed they've made for themselves. Aspirations to leave their anyway when bigger clubs come for him, or so he wishes. Not sure that's the right fit for Ipswich anyway. Maybe a bullet dodged?
