Town Closing in On Broja Loan
Tuesday, 20th Aug 2024 18:44

Town are closing in on the loan signing of Chelsea striker Armando Broja.

The 22-year-old was linked with the Blues early in the transfer window and again at the end of last week.

As per the EADT, we understand Town are getting closer to completing a deal which would see Broja move to Suffolk for the season.

According to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, the deal will include a clause which would see the Blues pay close to £30 million to sign him on a permanent deal next summer if they stay up.

Following last week’s initial reports, the prospect of the move happening was played down by various sources, however, we understand Broja and his representatives visited Playford Road on Friday and that appears to have swung things in Town’s direction.

Slough-born Broja, who is 6ft 3in tall, moved to Stamford Bridge from Tottenham’s youth set-up in 2009.

Since then, he has spent time on loan at Vitesse, Southampton and Fulham, while making 11 starts and 27 sub appearances, scoring three goals for his parent club.

Capped by Albania at full level 23 times, scoring five goals, and featuring at Euro 2024, Broja had previously been linked with a move to Everton.

Premier League clubs are allowed only two domestic loans at one time, four over the course of a season, as well as six international loans, although with exemptions relating to players under-21.

Town have already recruited Kalvin Phillips on loan from Manchester City and Broja would mean they wouldn't be able to bring in anyone else on a domestic loan.

Broja would be the Blues’ second Albanian international following in the footsteps of Town academy product Armando Dobra.

The signing would mean Town now have 26 players who qualify for the 25-man squad, but it's almost certain Freddie Ladapo will move on before the end of the window, while the likes of Cieran Slicker, Ali Al-Hamadi and Marcus Harness could go out on loan.

BErgholt blue I dont see a problem. I dont see an excess to worry about.

As more quality comes in the top, the lesser players are dropping out of the bottom. Lacrapo is on his way out.

More players to come in before the window closes. The existing players have got an option to fight for their place or be ousted out. If some of the players that got us to the prem are quality subs to bring on and you dont see a drop in performance all well and good, but if not your time is up.

I'm wondering whether town should scout Baylee Dipepa from Port Vale? 17 years old, looks class from his highlights. Got good close control, can hold the ball up, and presses quite well it seems. Possibly one for the future?

Do not forget WB has to be a doubtful consistent contributor ,and this man can be a ready replacement ,No doubt whatsoever KM can and will coach well and develop and exploit his abilities.
Seems like a super signing !

Wow,what a player, remember seeing him score for Southampton, fast and very dangerous up front.definitely will buy if we stay up.McKenna will even improve him

At his age, he needs to be playing regular football and somewhere he can consider 'home'. We can give him that, and if anyone can get the best out of him, McKenna can. Just have to keep him injury free.

Suffolkboy. How would he be an ideal replacement for Burns? Burns is a,winger/ wing back, Broja is a centre forward.

Have to laugh at those who say "not for me", "not sure about this one". I'm sure Mckenna is bothered what you guys think. For me, if hes good enough for Mckenna, thats all that matters.

I'm sure Ashton & co have done their homework on this guy,but my only concern is as far as I'm aware he didn't score a single goal while on loan at Fulham last season?
Or was he constantly injured?

With the injuries to last year's front 3, a much needed replacement. Squad size is fine, if Freddie goes. I think Harness will stay as cover, unless we get top quality left winger. Maybe 1 in, one out at CB. I now hope Walton stays!

This young player had an ACL injury. This tends to take a year to get back up to speed from. I think we've once again been very astute in signing this potential on loan.

The profile of our squad has taken a massive step up in the last month. We need to trust our recruitment strategy, it hasn't failed us yet in the last 3 seasons.

He didn’t score for Fulham for the games he was there as he was on the pitch 81 minutes in total according to Sky sports news.

I wanted to see Hirst get a good go in the prem, thought we looked much better with him up top in pre season vs Delap but unfortunately got injured. Can't see him getting any game time with us spending 50m on other strikers

I can see the advantages of a loan now buy later arrangement and I totally trust KM, and why wouldn't we? However its also full of problems, for instance say we stay up and he hasn't played been injured or similar and we honour agreement for alleged 30 mil and or KM moves on and next manager doesn't want him?

Sure it will be fine, but a little worrying.

Terribly underwhelmed .I suppose he's similar to the now injury prone Hirst.Hes no better than hirst and for 30 m we are being robbed .Yes only if we stay up but if we do we are stuck with this impotent Suffolk Punch ...never ever scores ...40 appearances for Chelsea , 3 goals ....I hope he's good at pressing because he's bang average otherwise...I hope Chelsea are paying 80 pc of his wages as they've got 40 wages to get off their books otherwise they will be paying out for them to kick a ball down at Esher

Don’t see a problem with this loan buy deal.
We get relegated he goes, we stay up he will have played a part in that and will be worth the acquisition plus we are in the money for a second season. Win win!

we need someone thats for sure, Unfortunately i cant see Hurst getting a regular spot in future his injury problems seem to be a curse .We do have a bit of a history taking on injured or injury prone players and it never bodes well .

I'm sure if we got Haaland on loan someone on here would moan about it. Let's be real, we are building at ITFC and can't afford the finished article. KM can and will improve players.
