Ladapo Leaves Town
Friday, 30th Aug 2024 21:09

Striker Freddie Ladapo has left the club by mutual consent.

The frontman’s departure had been widely expected, the 31-year-old having spent the second half of last season on loan at Charlton and with Town having brought in a number of attackers ahead of him this summer.

Ladapo joined the Blues after leaving Rotherham in the summer of 2021 and the Romford-born striker went on to make 33 starts and 42 sub appearances, scoring 25 goals as he played a part in Town’s back-to-back promotions.

The termination of the final year of his contract allows Ladapo to find a new club outside the transfer window.

My favourite Freddie goal is our third away at Peterborough. He is a throwback in some ways, because he's an out and out goalscorer. Hooking that one in is a great example of what he's about. I was at the Reading Carabao game when he ran on to that sublime Lee Evans pass for the first. There was no doubt in my mind, and clearly none in his either. There are fewer players like him in the game every season, and it makes me a bit sad that we won't have one after he's gone, even though I understand why he's going. But I'm old, so I would say that. Thanks Freddie, all the best!

One of an elite few to hit 20 goals in a season for us this century - Murphy Chaplin and Ladapo. Unfortunate for him that his efforts were overshadowed by Chaplin.
Thanks Freddie.

Nice to see some positive comments. This guy was one of the main reasons we finally got out of league one 20 plus goals. Thanks Freddie best of luck

Good to have come to an agreement. It gives other clubs time to take stock of their requirements/Freddie time to consider any options. His goal record will surely stand him in good stead. All the best and thanks, Freddie.
