Frank: McKenna and His Staff Have Done a Fantastic Job
Friday, 25th Oct 2024 15:55

Brentford manager Thomas Frank says he’s been impressed by the Blues this season and believes his side is in for a tough afternoon at the Gtech Community Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The Blues and Bees meet in the top flight for the first time with Town making their inaugural trip to the West Londoners’ new home.

“I know it’s going to be a very tough game tomorrow,” Frank said. “We need to hit a high level and if we hit a high level then I’m convinced we can get the three points in front of our fans.

“Kieran McKenna and his staff have done a fantastic job to get back-to-back promotions.

“In every game they are competing. Maybe they just lack those final bits in games or the margins to get over the line.

“They are running hard, they are working hard and they are well-structured; it’s a good team. They have a fine structure in everything they do; offensively and defensively.

“Some of the games that impressed me the most are the away game at Brighton – the 0-0 draw - and the home games against Fulham and Aston Villa. They were very impressive.

“We have huge respect for Ipswich but it doesn’t matter if it’s Ipswich or Man United, it’s always about us.”

Dane Frank, 51, says his side needs to be wary of Town counter-attacks: “When we are higher up the pitch, that’s where we need to be very aware of how we position ourselves, but also be open to create.

“Definitely on the counter-attack, we need to be very aware. They press well, they press aggressively and press high.

“Going forward, [Liam] Delap has done amazingly not only on counters but in structured play as well.

“[Omari] Hutchinson was such a threat last year. He’s doing well but the more games he plays, the more he will be a bigger threat.

“[Leif] Davis has a very good delivery and I think they have a good threat in the box. All clubs know how much set pieces are worth and important they are. We definitely need to defend well.”

Fitness-wise, midfielder Mathias Jensen is back in the Bees’ squad having been out since the end of August with a calf injury.

However, Rico Henry (knee), Igor Thiago (knee) and Gustavo Nunes (back) are all unavailable, and Aaron Hickey (hamstring) and Josh Dasilva (knee) long-term absentees.

Nice words. Respectful manager. They are a team that get at you from the moment the whistle blows, let's hope we don't get caught out with one of their very early goals which a few teams have succumbed to this season. It'll be very tough, so don't make it tougher with any silly errors. COYB!

I agree carlo88.
He is a very good manager who conducts himself very well and always seems to be respectful of opponents.

If the worst ever happens and we lost Mckenna, then this guy is one we should definitely consider. If there was any chance of enticing him of course.

Yes, very respectful and has done a wonderful job at Brentford. Pep raves about him, which is as good as it gets compliment wise from another manager. You have to wish him well, after tomorrow!

We would do well to emulate Brentford.
They were a big club in the late 1940's, and they are back.

A lot of Danes want him for our national team. We just appointed another one(Brian Riemer) so not this time around, but might end up there once in the future.
