Should have over ruled the ref and gone to VAR even Mica Richards and Joe Hart on MOTD thought it was...as for the jug eared Lineker :) Obviously VAR is only for the big clubs.

Just how on earth did the ref miss that? Well he didn’t did he. He was looking that way. So then you start to run out of explanations.

What gets me is, as MoTD showed, the same player bundled over two people, first to give away the free kick then the resulting penalty call. With no sanction from the ref. And when are refs going to start booking people for simulation to stop the endless writhing on the floor to try and get free kicks/sendings off ?

Referee's decision making is beyond belief. Hard not to start thinking cynically about this league and VAR

It looked a clear penalty in real time from the stands. It was obviously a penalty with the benefit of TV replays and multiple angles. Even Lineker and his cronies could see it was a penalty, but their reaction was to make a joke out of it, as if to say "poor little Ipswich, as if they thought VAR was there to fairly award them a penalty - how naive of them to think VAR was there for that reason' - they couldn't stop laughing.

Why is no one talking about this decision? Where is the VAR explanation for not saying to the ref he should have a second look at it? As others have said, if this was one of the ‘bigger’ teams then it would be everywhere, but as it’s happened to Ipswich it clearly doesn’t matter? Hope a thorough investigation happens into this. Obviously can’t say for sure, but likely has cost us 2 points which could be critical come the end of the season.

There has to be accountability, explanation is required to help understand the inconsistency, whilst it’s subjective and open to interpretation in some situations, in others it’s obvious. If it takes longer than a minute it’s not a clear and obvious error, original decision stands. Speaking to an mot tester this morning( scum fan) and he was saying that they on Mot training they are told that if it’s not an obvious fail and you have to think about it, you pass and advise. Could do this with VAR, if it isn’t obvious after a very short period of time pass it back to ref! The whole thing is shot to pieces, shame we didn’t vote to get rid of it, they no we would vote differently now! Hope Ashton has been pestering Webb!

Timmyh VAR did check it and deemed it to be fair and not a penalty!
