New Book Pays Tribute to Town's England Stars
Wednesday, 6th Nov 2024 15:05

Author Karl Fuller has written a new book, For Town and Country, focusing on the 12 Blues players to have won full England caps.

While Town are well known for supplying England with two of their greatest managers in Sir Alf Ramsey and Sir Bobby Robson, but 12 players have represented the Three Lions, among them a World Cup captain and goalscorer.

EADT columnist Fuller, who has written covers the 108 England games which featured Ray Crawford, Mick Mills, Kevin Beattie, Colin Viljoen, David Johnson, Paul Mariner, Brian Talbot, Trevor Whymark, Terry Butcher, Russell Osman, Eric Gates and Richard Wright, along with notable facts from those matches and those who played alongside them.

The 100th England fixture in which Town players were involved was also the last game in which one of them scored and also the last time a Blues player represented the Three Lions at Wembley.

With a foreword written by the club’s most-capped England international Butcher, the book is priced at £12.50 (plus p&p where applicable) and available here.

The first 50 books sold will come with a limited edition bookmark and can be signed by the author.

I look more like Trevor Whymark than that does, and I look nothing like Trevor Whymark. Looking forward to reading the book nevertheless.

I hadn’t remembered that CV was capped by England, I assumed he was capped by South Africa.
You can create a cracking quite well balanced team from those 12 :
RW
MM , TB, RO, KB
EG, BT, CV
PM, DJ, TW
